The Palm Desert Gem was perfect for our large family group. The master is set a apart from other bedrooms for privacy and there is a bedroom and bathroom in the pool house. It is very spacious and comfortable. There are a couple issues with upkeep inside the house, such as loose hinges in the back bedroom, and the pool could have been cleaner. Other than that it was amazing and all that we wanted!

I suppose the positive part of this place was it was clean. The issues I had were with the following. Poor communication with property manager and check in process. Some of the text messages with the person came off rude and unhelpful. The neighborhood isn't really the greatest. On both sides of the property are vacant lots with debris and trash and people walking through them from the main road. There are neighbor dogs that bark off and on throughout the night and day. Lastly, we experienced quite a scare at about 5am in the morning (its dark at this time and we're sleeping) when there were noises and a shadow going by the back master bedroom window. Scared me to death and my husband got up to see who was wandering around in the back yard and it ended up being the pool guy! Coming at that time and not given any heads up was unacceptable.

House wasnโ€™t cleaned when I arrived, not a single bed unused, all towels dirty and on floor, dishes in sink etc. Hour 1 on phone with VRBO. Told โ€œ this is minorโ€ work it out with ownerโ€. Owner called me a liar and said place clean. Stayed in hotel and drove home. Never stayed at the property. Accused of โ€œhow do i know you are not still on propertyโ€. Another 2 hours on Vrbo. Told I would get money back. Never did. Got another note from VRBO stating โ€œwork out with owner. Do not book this property. It is not what is marketed. Ruined my Thanksgiving.
