Mar-A-Lago ("mahr-ah-lahgo")

Built in 1924-1927 by Marjorie Merriweather Post and designed by Joseph Urban. When Post died in 1973 she willed the 17-acre estate to the U.S. Government as a retreat for Presidents and visiting foreign dignitaries.

The Mar-A- Lago Club is currently a private club owned by Donald Trump. Trump paid $ 10 million for the estate in 1985. After acquiring the property in 1985, He had the property extensively renovated, with 58 bedrooms, 33 bathrooms, 12 fireplaces ( because it gets so cold in Florida ), and three bomb shelters,, because....?. The estate also has five clay and one grass tennis court with a waterfront pool and a 20,000-square-foot ballroom. The name Mar-A-Lago is Spanish for "Sea to Lake".

On April 18, 2012, the AIA's Florida Chapter ranked Mar-A-Lago fifth on its list of Florida Architecture: 100 Years.

"There were 10 women age 75-81 the property is gorgeous!! We cooked most of our meals, large grocery store nearby. There are several seating areas for eating, lounging., coffee on the patio Kitchen is well equipped. Highly recommend this property. Heated pool, hot tub. Lots to do and see in area."
