Panguitch Red Brick Homes (upper home)

Enjoy this classic Panguitch red brick home.  This home on the upper level has two bedrooms, master with a queen and second bedroom with a twin. There is an efficient kitchen in the home.  The lower home (2 bedrooms / 2 baths) can be combined with this to make a four bedroom three bath home.  The upper and lower units do not have interior connecting doors.  Entrance to this home is up the white stars show in the pictures.

Portable AC unit (Summer)

Panguitch information:
Located in the valley between the Markagunt and Pausaugunt Plateaus, Panguitch Utah is home to some of the most majestic scenery on earth. A Native American Paiute word meaning “Big Fish,” Panquitch is undoubtedly named for the famously plentiful lake in the nearby mountains, hosting some of the largest rainbow trout in the state and ideal for year-round fishing.

In springtime, Panquitch hosts an Annual Quilt Walk Festival where local quilters display both hand-crafted and machine embroidered works of art, while local performers re-enact the story of Quilt Walk and food lovers highlight their culinary creativity with quintessential pioneer cuisine.

As the gentle warmth of spring fades and the lazy days of summer make their yearly entrance into the town of Panquitch, the city pulses with excitement as pilots launch a sky-full of hot air balloons into the heavens for the annual Panquitch Valley Balloon Rally. As night falls, spectators in the Historic Downtown area encounter the adventurous spirit of the town’s past, mixed in the magic of glowing hot air balloons as they parade up and down Main and Center Streets, like enormous planets waiting to be explored in the starlit sky.

Rodeos, concerts, horse racing, sports tournaments, conventions, and equestrian competitions are hosted at the Canyon Country Complex, the city’s new event center.  This state of the art, Triple C Arena is located just off scenic highway 89.

July 24th is one of the town’s biggest celebrations. As the rest of the state pays tribute to the settling of the pioneers in Utah with an annual parade and fireworks, Panquitch commemorates this historic “homecoming” with reunions (family and class), a community breakfast, pit barbeque dinner, races, games, rodeo, and a city dance.

Summer isn’t the only time to enjoy activities in Panguitch.  A New Year’s Eve party is held every year at the indoor Triple C Arena.  The whole town comes out to celebrate and enjoy food, games and live entertainment.  Ice fishermen can ring in the new year by participating in the Panguitch Lake “Big Fish” Derby.  Beginning the first Saturday in January they vie for cash and other prizes by catching the largest fish.

For those desiring a more personal tribute to the early settlers of Panquitch, a historic cemetery awaits visitors just two miles east of the town on Highway 89. This hauntingly beautiful burial ground hosts tombstones dated as early as 1870.

Beware! Very deceiving and poorly managed and maintained.
Broken window this size of about a basketball still not fixed in master bedroom. No attempt to even fix this. This allowed rain and dust to get in while you sleep. Your belongings will be dirty and dusty. The front door lock would not work, attempted numerous times to contact management to get back in, we had to pull the AC unit from the window by the door so my teenage son ( who just got out of the ER) could climb thru it and unlock the front door se we could get in. There is a good layer of dust in the living room especially under the TV, and finally the tub backs up while you are showering which is gross. That broken window allows critters throughout the place. You will find spiders and ants. On the plus side there are plenty of towels and the iron works. The microwave is out of the early 80’s and should be in a museum (wish there was a manual on how to use something so outdated).

Would not book again.
Wouldn’t book it again. The sheets were very scratchy and the bed squeaked so loud! There are no dishes to use, just an array of mismatched items. No laundry detergent or dish soap. You have to supply your own. The tv didn’t work.

2nd visit - not the same
Great location with threadbare accommodations. We stayed a week. The good: good location in town next door to grocery store and walk to shops and restaurants. Very quiet, good light. Space is good really for two people. The not so good, and we are really not picky travelers. arrived to discover bedroom windows had been broken and a big hole on it with glass pieces laying in sill. Right next to bed. Alerted hosts and asked to fix, even a temp fix. One week later, no attempt to fix. The 40 mph wind guests all week made this a real bummer. The bed frame is old and quaint but the frame attached to the headboard is stripped and the frame seems ready to fall apart and creaks to the point of not being able to sleep if you move ever so slightly. The keypad to the front door worked mostly until it didn’t and we were locked out of the house with no response from host until we were told that the manager was alerted. We eventually were able to get in after 2 hours and were told to let them know if we got locked out again. Generally dirty. The kitchen has almost no counter space, so preparing meals is challenging. We knew this as we stayed here before and there are just two of us. Furnishings are old and sparse. Lots of deferred maintanence not being taken care of. Knob to front screen door stripped and falls off, so the knob is the business end of a wood screw. Windows are all in very poor shape. Yard could be nice if it was taken care of but it’s uninviting, unkempt, and a mess. Management company was invisible and no real follow up to the two things that were safety issues. Oh well.

Wonderful stay!
The home was nicely kept. It was helpful to have the laundry facilities on site. tow doors downs was the local grocery store which was wonderful in a pinch. The location for the home was also great for visiting the National Parks. My overall experience was outstanding.

Disaster Stay
We arrived at about 5. Were given the code to get in . .and the door was wide open when we arrived with no one there. A half filled water bottle sitting in the middle of the living room. We'd been hiking and traveling and I wanted to shower. The shower had water in it that would not go down. A sign explained a delicate septic system. I called for help and no help arrived. We left in the morning and felt this place was not accurately represented. A disaster experience. We ended our vacation early. This felt unsafe, not workable, unwelcoming. Unsuperivsed.

This property was very homely and was exactly what we needed after staying at several hotels on our trip. The place was clean and easy to get in and out of. Would definitely stay here again if we ever came back.

Historic house great location for exploring Bryce Canyon NP
A vice nice historical house close to Bryce Canyon National Park. We had the lower unit which was spacious and comfortable. The two master suites were very spacious. There were upstairs guests but we hardly heard them. Only a little floor squeaking but that is expected in a historic house. We would stay here again
