Very friendly and welcoming staff. The rooms were kept clean when we asked, and we weren't interrupted if we had a "down day" and stayed in the room with the do not disturb sign on the door. We had no language barriers or issues even though our French is not great and we work best in English. They have an interesting system of controlling access to the hotel and rooms that includes you leaving your key at the front desk when you head out of the hotel, so they always see who is coming in and going out. The hotel is at a great location by the Bois de Vincennes, which has such a great lake to walk around, relax and picnic beside. It is also near the Promenade de Plante, which is a great walk. The neighbourhood is charming, with lots of little shops, restaurants, and other amenities, including both a Franprix (across the street) and a Monoprix (a short walk away) where you can pick up anything you might need for refreshments, a blanket for picnics, sunscreen, snacks, etc. We loved our time at the hotel and will definitely be staying there again when we next travel to Paris.

A pleasant small hotel near to the Metro, Supermarket, Boulangerie and several restaurants. We were upgraded and had a large 4th floor room facing onto the road, well decorated and lit but short of storage space. Breakfast was good, with nice coffee and DIY orange juice. A day by day change of cheese variety, and some ham, would be an improvement.

This is our second time staying at this hotel. This trip we stayed at quite a few different hotels as we traveled through France, and I still think Hotel de la Porte Doree takes hotel service to a new level! Cleanliness, amazing staff, great beds and bathrooms and amazing amenities! Free coffee fruit, nuts at the reception. I honestly think the staff are one of the best. We enjoyed our stay very much and look forward to being back someday when we are in Paris!❤️❤️

Stay

Getting to the hotel from the train station and airport was very easy . The room was very spacious . David checked us in and was very kind and helpful. We truly enjoyed our stay . The hotel itself had a very homey feeling and such cute decor for Christmas time. You can find lift to take your luggage up to your room which is a plus. The hotel also has complementary fruit in the lobby which was great.

The hotel is not the closest to the Paris tourist hotspots but that shouldn't detract from this lovely hotel. Metro access is very close by. Tram and bus stops are also close by. Providing access to all the sightseeing places you ask for! The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Our accommodation was very clean and comfortable - cleaned and tidied whilst we were out on a daily basis. We weren't bothered by any significant noise even with it's city location. Choices for local eating was also good and there were local grocery stores for supplies and snacks.

Nice little hotel, the triple room was a good size and comfortable beds. Metro station across the road and a nice boulangerie and a couple of bistros close by (Au Bois was really good - very friendly and nice atmosphere). Rumbling from the metro going underneath causes the occasional bit of noise through the hotel so if you’re a very light sleeper it may keep you up. But overall a good little hotel.

Great place for bicycles

We are traveling by bicycle and the hotel was able to provide storage for our bicycle boxes until we return in 7 weeks! After breakfast is served you may be able to assemble your bicycle in the breakfast room. There is a very small area behind the hotel to store assembled bikes. We stored ours in our room.

Lovely stay, loud neighbors

The hotel was in a great location for us, it was older but still very nice with so much character - which we loved. The room was clean, spacious enough for two, and had a nice updated bathroom as well. Unfortunately we had bad luck with some inconsiderate people next door as there was a lot of noise. So, if you are a light sleeper I would advise that the walls are very thin and you can feel/hear the subway rumbles as well.

Worst noise I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. Walls are paper thin and the street noise goes on all night including screams. Can’t believe the reviews say how great it is. It’s cute and clean and that’s it. Cold check in from reception, although the lady who took over the shift was very kind and personable.
