Fully Renovated, Charming Craftsman Home in Downtown Paso Robles Wine Country

Welcome to the Heaton House, a historic craftsman home built in the 1920s by one of the original families who built Paso Robles. This house has been completely remodeled and upgraded with attention to character and detail. The property is one block from the city's quaint town square, where excellent restaurants, cafes, and tasting rooms are within walking distance. Dozens of the region's top wineries are a short 10-20 minute drive away.
The house features a classic front porch, from which you enter into a cozy living room with television and space to relax. You then pass through to a large dining room and open chef's kitchen with island, perfect for gathering friends and family on vacation. Guests can retreat to three comfortable bedrooms (2 king beds and 1 queen) and access one fully upgraded full bathroom (on main level) plus a second full bathroom located in downstairs basement level (which was remodeled in 2025). Beautiful oak floors extend throughout the home and tasteful furnishings appoint each room. A backyard includes a grill, patio table and seating, and space to relax.
This home and the neighborhood are child friendly. The house is one block from the city's main square, where you can stroll through the lawn and grove of trees, access a playground for children to enjoy, and happen upon the city's farmers market vendors.
Kids and families are welcome. The house is also stocked with toys and games for children to enjoy alone or with grown ups.
The Heaton House is located in the heart of Paso Robles, with dozens of shops, boutiques, and the city's best restaurants located within a few blocks and top wineries and destinations within a short drive, including:
- Best wineries on the central coast (10-20 minutes): Alta Colina, Booker, Brecon, Clos Solene, Denner, Halter Ranch, Justin, La Aventure, Law, McPrice Myers, Thatcher, and many more.
- Top Paso restaurants (5 minute walk, reservations recommended): Il Cortile (Italian), BL Brasserie (French), Somm's Kitchen (limited seating tasting menu), Fish Gaucho (seafood), Les Petites Canailles (French - Michelin Rated), Hatch Rotisserie (American - Michelin Rated).

Perfect location!

We were in town for a wedding and had a great time staying in Paso Robles! If you want to be able to walk to the Square and restaurants and shops then this is where you want to stay. The house is updated and even has outdoor space. Overall, it’s a great place to stay!

A lovely, fully renovated historic home in a perfect location - literally downtown Paso! The kitchen and upstairs bathroom are fabulous. The only oddity is the one bathroom in the basement. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

The property was exactly as described. The home fit four of us very comfortably and was conveniently located to the downtown/Main Street area (5 min walk!). Two full bathrooms was a plus. The host was responsive via text and both check-in and check-out were easy. Definitely would stay here again!

Paso Robles Wine Tasting Getaway

This was our first VRBO rental, having always stayed in hotels during past holidays. The home was perfectly located within steps to downtown and a 15 minute drive to our favorite winery. Beautifully updated, this turn of the century home features a spectacular kitchen and the most comfortable beds.

Christmas/Birthday getaway

We had a delightful time in Paso Robles in the Heaton House. The house is a beautiful craftsmen house very close to the square in downtown Paso. We could walk to many restaurants and tasting rooms. on the square. The Christmas decorations were fun to see from our front windows of the house. The house was just as described. A perfect place for a getaway. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed to make a nice meal. We would stay here again for sure.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying at The Heaton House. The house is immaculately clean, kitchen is updated and well appointed, living room is comfortable and has plenty of seating for 6 adults, the bathrooms are updated and sparkling clean. Tom was a pleasure to communicate with and so very accommodating. We will be back!

Love, Love, Love this place

What a perfect stay! The house is amazing, so beautifully decorated, so clean! Immaculate backyard with peaceful garden. Front porch with rocking chairs. 5 minute walk to the center of Paso Robles, to restaurants and the lovely park. Great neighborhood to walk in as well. The kitchen is amazing, love the cabinet color, the stunning design and functionality. It has everything you would ever need to make a great meal. The place is spacious, had 6 adults and it was great to have together time, but also allowed for privacy as well due to the various areas to hang out The bathroom in the basement is a plus as well. We hated to leave this amazing place. Cannot recommend it enough!

Downtown convenient home

A nice clean 3br home only a couple blocks from the town square. 2 of 3 bedrooms have ceiling fans. Our only nitpick complaint was the thermostat range was locked to a 72-78 deg range. We visited on a warm weekend and those in the fanless room would have liked to turn the thermostat a little lower. The kitchen was clean and modern. We would recommend this home and would be happy to stay there again. There is a long driveway for parking, including a spot behind a gate if desired.

Location, location

This place is very cute! The kitchen remodel is adorable and was well stocked with everything you’d need. The upstairs bathroom was remodeled and has a really nice shower. I will say the downstairs bathroom leaves a lot to be desired and no one really wanted to shower down there. It also felt like the basement is a bit haunted. But part of that is also the charm of the place because it is old/historical. Although it’s been redone, they’ve kept some of the original components and that is really cool! The best part about the place is the location - you’re steps from the downtown area of Paso. With that said, I would bring some earplugs - it was generally quiet at night but the cars, noise in the area does start pretty early in the morning. We also were there during a car show weekend which made the noise a little louder. We would definitely stay here again. Would love it if the owners decided to do a hot tub in the back - there is room for one and would be a great amenity.

Perfect Weekend to the Mid State Fair

This was a fantastic place to stay for our visit to the Mid State Fair. The free shuttle is .1 miles away from the property. It was close to wineries and Tin City. The house was perfect for 3 couples, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfy beds. We will stay here again next time we attend a concert at the fair.
