"At first, my impression upon arrival was instant stress. There are no safe-feeling or clean parking options outside of using the valet. Never having done that before, the process was stressful because the valet staff I think expect everyone to know what they're supposed to do. I was clueless and uncomfortable. Worked through that and figured out how valet worked though. I wish I had gotten an email about that. We don't travel much and I've never used valet before.
When we entered the room, I was so disappointed with the size. The bathroom was tiny and had no vent fan which was weird. Paint was peeling on the door frames and there are stains on the hallway carpets. We also had a madly obscured view, right by the sundial elevator. I thought I paid for a premium view on the other side of the hotel so that was incredibly misleading. We didn't spend a lot of time in our room and stayed busy around Atlanta most of our trip, but I expected a bigger room, and a more updated feel. The hotel was built in 1976 and it shows.
The staff though were awesome. The folks at the check in counters were very helpful. The service staff was great. The breakfast that we paid for as part of our package was also great and made up for the tiny room and bathrooms. The bed was also great and we'll be investing in our own pillows of the same brand because I generally slept better than I do at home while staying. Despite my gripe with the room size and view, our experience was overall very pleasant."
