La Rioja may be Spain's most famous wine-producing region, but the Penedès area near Barcelona is also home to some excellent wine.

The Jean Leon Wineries are small but have beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The wines are also delicious! My personal favorite was the Vinya Gigi Chardonnay (named after Jean Leon's daughter), even though I don't typically like white wines very much.

If you're staying in Barcelona, you can be happily wine tasting in the Penedès region in under an hour's drive.

"The villa is a great space for a large group and young children. The garden has good space for playing, eating and the two pools were perfect. The beautiful beach is only a minute walk. Ideal. It was good having a rental car to get to the busier areas, but restaurants around were lovely (Mex&Co was delicious), and having our own bbq area. Definitely recommend! "The property was conveniently located. The staff was kind, the breakfast was delicious. The pool was closed and the backyard garden was tiny. We never saw the library. Our room was of comfortable size but the bathroom door looks like it’s beginning to fall apart. The balcony was tiny and the streets are loud. The curtains do a decent job keeping the sound away. "
