Beachfront Family Retreat Or Just Some Peace and Quiet

The cottage is on a quiet private spot overlooking Penobscot Bay. Western views of Penobscot Bay for beautiful sunsets over the water. 900 feet of shore frontage, quiet setting with private deck. A lighthouse across the Bay continues to direct some large vessels to Bucksport. In the fog, you may hear the fog horn sound every 7 seconds. The beach is a great spot for walking, collecting beach glass, and driftwood. Our regulars like to build forts on the beach with the many shapes and sizes of driftwood that wash up. There are also a couple of lakes in the area if you would like to visit some fresh water.

We are equal distance to Belfast, Bangor and Ellsworth. Short drive to many coastal Maine towns; 12 min to Blue Hill, 7 min to Castine, 45 min to Acadia National Park, and 60 min to Camden/Rockport.

I do my major grocery shopping in Bucksport, a comfortable 10 mile country drive.
One bedroom on the ground floor has a double bed, One upstairs bedroom has a double bed and the other 2 twins.

Maine has a rich literary history - and if you are bringing your kids, grab a copy of some Robert McCloskey favorites; One Morning In Maine, Burt Dow Deep Water Man, Time of Wonder. We can give you directions to Condon's Garage so you can eat ice cream by the harbor and read these iconic books to your kids. Burt Dow's headstone is only a short drive from there, and the locals regularly adorn it with a painted buoy. We like to think Giggling Gull visits from time to time.

Peaceful, beautiful location.

This is our third year staying here, and it’s quickly become our favorite place to get away to. The location is beautiful, it’s quiet and pretty secluded despite not being far from town. It’s a quick ride into Bucksport for groceries, with lots of great places for day trips around the area. The property itself is gorgeous. We love being able to sit out on the deck and read or watch the sunset over the water. The accommodations themselves are clean and comfy and provide everything we need for an easy stay. I highly recommend a trip here for anyone looking for a little bit of relaxation!

So very peaceful

It was a beautiful week. My grandchildren roamed the beach for hours finding treasures. It was very relaxing and we found a swimming beach just 10 minutes away. We can't wait to go back and see all the seals and other wildlife that presented itself periodically during our stay.

Wonderful getaway!

Such a beautiful place, on the bay and surrounded by trees. The lack of light pollution made stargazing simply amazing. Very clean and comfortable and we had all we needed for a relaxing stay. Easy drive to Bar Harbor and surrounding area. Venessa was just wonderful and so very nice. Looking forward to another stay here!

Perfect casual Penobscot Riverfront retreat

We loved every minute of our stay in Vanessa's cottage. It was very welcoming and really had everything we needed to make ourselves at home. Our two dogs were more than happy to explore the rocky shore and we loved sitting out on the deck for sunset.

Peaceful setting

Beautiful and tranquil

Our stay in Penobscot was absolutely perfect. The home is located right on the bay with beautiful sunset views across the water. We loved taking walks down the beach and coffee on the porch, our daughter had a great time exploring and playing on the beach as well. Can’t recommend this home enough, also had great communication with Vanessa who was super nice and helpful with any questions we had!

The hosts were wonderfully kind and helpful. The beach front is a one of a kind experience of privacy and peacefulness. The cottage met all our needs including front yard and deck for the pups to have a great vacation too!! We will return!!

Home away from Home

Our family of 5 had a great time here in Penobscot Maine. This Beachfront Family Retreat is just what we needed. Evenings out on the deck were great for family game nights and the walks on the beach down below in the morning were rememberable. We are hoping to return in the future.

We had a wonderful time at this property. Secluded, quiet, kids had the "beach" all to themselves. Very homey and comfortable. If we ever go to Maine again, we'll certainly be back. Venessa was a great hostess.

Beautiful Bayside

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Venessa’s cottage! Both she and her son Matt were very sweet and helpful to inform us about places to go in the area. The view is spectacular, and we were well situated to visit many wonderful towns in about an hour give or take. It’s peaceful and private and has everything you need to feel at home, and we would highly recommend a stay here in any season!

A magical retreat!

Amazing stay

We absolutely fell in love with this place! It is equipped with everything you need, the view is unbelievable. About 40 minutes from Acadia, but it is nice to get away from the crowds and back to this peaceful place. Would absolutely recommend and stay again. The owner and her son were so accommodating, easy to communicate with and answered any questions we had, just can’t say enough good things.

Simple but comfortable

My granddaughter and I wanted to get away to a quiet place for some needed R&R. This place fit the bill. It has a lovely view of the water and is far enough away from everything to be quiet and secluded but close enough for day trips to the sights and activities Maine offers. The house was simple but comfortable.

Great Maine Cottage

The cottage was exactly as described. On property mgr. was a wonderful host. Immaculately clean, all appliances worked fine. Will definitely return and recommend it completely. As a modest Maine cottage with a spectacular deck and view, it is superb. Excellent value.

We loved this property. Just what we were looking for. Quiet on the water with great sunsets. If your looking for a stay at the Hilton this is not the place for you. Amazing view, rustic cabin-like house

The view is amazing—a stunning westward view of Penobscot Bay, including a small lighthouse across the bay (the light isn’t bright enough to be bothersome at night). The stove and fridge work well, the central heat was great, and we didn’t have any plumbing issues. The beds were rather hard, and we were surprised that one of the bedrooms (the one with the twin beds) had a curtain instead of a door. The walls downstairs are covered with particle board, which wasn’t a problem, but was a surprise. For our group of 3, it worked well. Venessa was helpful, and overall we enjoyed our stay.
