But the options in Saint Emilion are great and it's a beautiful old city. Labourne is a more modern city and is wonderful on Market day. The hotel itself is wonderful and comfortable..."

Our host, Clement, was a storehouse of information regarding the area, and fun to chat with as he is a wine maker and quite knowledgeable about the history of locally produced wines. "Booked and paid in JANUARY. Arrived 16:00 (check-in allegedly from 14:00). Place was locked; could not make anyone hear us. Waited 30 minutes before finding another hotel. Had also booked dinner but the sign outside said the restaurant was closed on Tuesday (the day of our stay). Contacted hotels.com to request full refund - this was apparently refused by the hotel (though hotels.com personnel said they couldnât really communicate with hotel very well as the staff there only spoke French.
