"I was visiting the area and meeting up with old college friends. I got to Platte City and easily found Basswood Resort. I had a king bed/jacuzzi room (I did not use the jacuzzi). The room was much larger than I was expecting, but what blew me away was the fire pit / patio area right outside my door. I checked in and got a map of the place. I had access to 3 catch and release ponds and they told me about the evening activities for the kids. The Lego movie and roasting marshmallows. Plus there was a pretty nice playground for the kids. I wish I would have known about this place when my kids were little. The doors to the rooms still had the old fashion door handles with real keys. I had a bit of trouble with the key. I went and got some help and realized I just needed to wiggle the handle a bit while turning the key. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and will be returning."

"What a lovely hotel! Lots of personality and charm. Great restaurant and speakeasy on site. Awesome coffee shop right around the block. Rooms were very spacious and beds were quality. Gave 4 starts on 2 rating options because pillows were too high and firm, causing some neck discomfort in the morning along with the room door needing some work to close/open efficiently. "
