I was so happy to stay at this hostel location. Paulo was absolutely amazing with both his services and wonderful personality. Not many host will go above and beyond as he did. Great hospitality from the owner. Paolo walks you through an itinerary and explains the best way to tackle certain excursions (where to park, what trails to take, etc). The building was very clean and staff was friendly. Highly recommend staying here

He helped book our whale watching trip when the one we had booked weeks ago had canceled only 2 days before the date. Too many positives to tell all..

I loved my stay at Passal hostel, the owner Paolo is so kind and helpful. The whole property was very clean. Bed super comfortable. Perfect Location. I stayed in the women’s dorm- it was the best option for me…Was nice chatting with other guests aswell. I will be most definitely returning in the future. This was my first hostel experience and I loved it. Owners and staff were so incredibly kind and helpful. Probably the best tips for seeing the island, helped book taxis to and from the airport. Place is super clean. Bed and pillow was very comfy. The air conditioning in the room was a wicked surprise and I was so thankfully. I would definitely stay here again. Only thing was that it said on the booking website there was laundry and there wasn’t but maybe I misunderstood what that meant.

My time at Passal Hostel was a real surprise. Paulo is so welcoming you immediately feel at home and above all he is so helpful and approachable. He took so much time for each guest to mention all the possibilities of exploring the island. I always find criticism important in order to become better and better and so I can only mention the humidity which is simply noticeable and for some is not advantageous and I would also find a shoe rack outside the rooms simply more pleasant for all guests. Otherwise only recommendable !!!

Paulo welcomed us and guided us to an amazing four night stay in a private room. The washrooms were always clean, and our room was comfortable, with a balcony and 2 twin beds. The hostel was quiet, and the 10 pm noise curfew was respected. The street traffic could be a little loud, but that is beyond a hostel’s control. Paulo gave us sound advice on what to visit and when (mainly weather-based). He has a wealth of knowledge about how the island works. Our car rental on both Sao Miguel and Terceira, set up by him, was smooth and easy. He kindly made a cozido reservation for us in Furnas. Each morning he greeted guests at breakfast by name and checked on how their holiday was proceeding, and he genuinely took pleasure in hearing our experiences. Delightful.

Great hostel, guests were quiet and respectful. Tap cards access the doors and lockers. I would have loved to leave my bag in a locker, but that was not available so I left it under the stairs and came back later for it for an additional 5Euro.
