Hotel Catalunya

8/10 Good

"The main attraction with this hotel was its prime location very close to the old city and the harbor/marina. The room was good, but unfortunately there was a foul smell coming from the bathroom drains. We told the staff, and the next day they were able to improve it significantly. The smell did however return gradually over the next few days. The breakfast buffet was good, with a stunning view from the breakfast restaurant. In the evenings, the restaurant turned into a skybar, but after trying it twice, we really wouldn’t recommend it. There are many bars and restaurants in the area that are more welcoming. The hotel offers a parking garage, but note that the garage is 5 minutes of walking away from the hotel."

San Francesco Heritage Hotel

"We had a lovely stay at the Francesco Heritage Hotel. The staff were very helpful and obliging unfortunately we did not get the room that was showing on the website even though I did check before arriving and the room we were given was not finished as there was a lot of tiling grouting and sealant that needed snagging. We did not have a mini bar to start with, but that was delivered after the first three days and there was no table or chair which was a bit inconvenient but otherwise the room was nice. Great location in the wonderful old town of Alghero."

"This was my 2nd time staying at Hotel Calabona, it’s an ideal hotel in Alghero! The hotel is waterfront with a small private cove, has a large pool overlooking the sea! It’s a 15 minute walk to the town center or they have a free shuttle. I suggest booking a room with a water view, it’s worth it. The staff is amazing, friendly and extremely accommodating! I highly suggest renting a car for a day trip to Castlesardo, La Pelosa Beach (ranked a top beach in Europe), you need to make a reservation), and some of the local beaches. Maria Pia was my favorite (15-20 minute drive), you can find street parking at the back of the hotel near the promenade. My only suggestion to the hotel, i. the summer, keep the pool open a little later. Thank you Hotel Calabona! I’ll be back!"

"Beautiful location and great staff. There is a village store and restaurant 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Otherwise Alghero is the nearest town. The pool was great and sea views. The gym could have more equipment for a workout. We had a very relaxing stay thank you!"

Hotel Soleado

"Location is excellent and we had a great sea view room which was very spacious. Room cleaned daily and was cleaned very well with clean towels given each day. Very nice housekeeper. Staff, especially on reception were very nice and super helpful. Pool is lovely, however it holds maximum of about 10 sunbeds which is unfortunate if a small group of you wnat to lay around the pool as unlikely to get a sunbed. Biggest and strangest thing is that a 4* hotel does not have a private shower cubicle for those with a late flight. It has a luggage room but you’re expected to use the pool to freshen up as no shower other than the pool side one. Although manageable it’s surprising as a late checkout is charged at a nightly rate which works out a costly shower if that’s all you need on your last day. Food was amazing. Pizza is great and staff again seemed pleasant. I would stay here again as it’s a nice hotel and I’d make sure I booked an extra night stay if I had a late flight again but defo would return here."
