Portsoy harbour
Eight years ago, Carn Standing met a young woman on the Doonie beside the remains of the gable end at Portsoy Harbour. She was disabled and very ill, but had been camping there for a number of weeks. He asked her why she was there, to which she replied that she’d been waiting for the dolphins. Carn was inspired by her spirit and determination, and since this encounter, seeing dolphins has always reminded him of this brave woman. This prompted him to create a life size dolphin sculpture out of mild steel and galvanized to protect it from rust, for the 2014 'Scottish Traditional Boat Festival' in Portsoy.
