Top Povoacao Hotel Reviews
VIP Executive Azores Hotel
8/10 Good
"This hotel is a convenient and attractive place to stay in São Miguel, close to both the airport and the city center. The property is clean, bright, and always bustling with guests. Unfortunately, the air‑conditioning was the biggest drawback. Our first room had a non‑working unit, and although the staff quickly reassigned us, the second room was no better. After experiencing the same issue during a second stay in a different room, it’s clear the cooling system is a recurring problem. Nights were warm enough that we relied on handheld fans to sleep. The breakfast buffet was excellent, offering a generous variety of items each morning. Staff were consistently polite and helpful. Parking outside is limited, so we opted for the underground garage at €10 per night, accessed from an obscure entrance behind the building. Some hallway carpets also appear loose and ready for refurbishment. Despite these issues, the hotel has a pleasant atmosphere and strong potential with a few improvements."
Terra Nostra Garden Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"This property was exceptional. The grounds were stunning - there’s a reason this place is a tourist destination. We felt incredibly lucky to actually be staying here. The wonder and atmosphere of the thermal pools cannot be overstated. At night, in the warmth of the pool, if the mist isn’t too heavy, the star-gazing is fantastic. I traveled there with my 12-year-old daughter and the staff gave us an adult- and a petite, child-sized robe. She was thrilled! After a day of canyoning, coming back to the thermal pools in the evening was a perfect way to relax. The restaurant was very good - beautiful presentation. It was expensive and chic. I gave 4 stars for the staff category only because of the restaurant. I was there as a mother alone with her child to make memories and enjoy a beautiful trip. Four of the six times we ate in the restaurant, we were seated facing a wall, behind a column, or otherwise hidden from the main dining area. We felt unwelcome and unable to enjoy the full experience of our very expensive stay. I was at the point where I was planning to ask to speak with the restaurant manager when the next time we visited, we were seated centrally. This was for breakfast by a mature woman whose smile reached her eyes. The older man who seated us for our first dinner there just barely hid that he rolled his eyes when he saw that we were his “party of two.” Aside from the unpleasant dining experience, we loved Terra Nostra. Tina, the Night Manager was an angel, so kind!"
