"I had a lovely solo stay at Maria Rousse! It was clean and quiet at the hotel with only a few minutes walk to the Malia strip which leads to Malia beach! All the hotel staff were very pleasant and friendly! It was never any issue getting a sun lounger by the pool! The food at the bar was very tasty especially the Cretan breakfast which I ate most mornings! I also highly recommended the bars cocktails! "

The location near the town is great (make sure to have a car!) and still close enough to Heraklion. There were plenty of beds and the layout of the houses/villas was great for a large group. "We loved our stay at Villa Agreilia. It is large, very comfortable, well-equipped, and the pool and terrace area are stunning. Thoughtful provision of some fresh eggs, water, olive oil and raki. "Pool and surroundings were excellent and the host was very nice and helpful. However the interior was very disappointing particularly the very narrow spiral staircase that 2 75 year olds had to climb up to sleep and my wife had a broken leg and still on crutches!!! We were never told about the stairs and there was nothing on the site indicating that was the situation. Also the beds were very uncomfortable and far too hard and gave us bad backs.the kitchen needs a few more accompaniments as well....
