Puerto Maldonado is the up and coming tourism spot with Inkaterra running several lodges situated on the banks of the Madre de Dios river. This was a fantastic experience to learn about the company's preservation efforts, plants, animals, and participate in a well- organized day and night tours through the jungle.

"Limited dining to only whatever dish they are serving and the times they serve. No options. No hot water in the cabins for shower. They tried to put us in a group to do all the same excursions as a group. We opted out of the excursions, which all cost extra. Wanted to relax by the pool but cool weather settled in for a few days. "

"Kenny is the owner and he was super helpful with coordinating our day trips and getting us boat rides to the city. The room with the private bathroom was worth it. Not many bugs got inside the room so that was great! Food was average but all included. No a/c but fans by the bed! Overall great stay "

"The staff is fantastic. There are limited options in Puerto Maldonado. The property is in an odd location on a dirt road that turns into mud when it rains."

"The immersion experience was great. Be prepared though to feel hot and full of bug spray much of the time. Wear hiking pants. Not Lulu leggings (too hot). The guides are great and you can do as much or as little as you want. We saw a lot of animals. "
