"This hotel is convenient and the location is scenic. However the hotel is very close to the road which results in a lot of traffic noise. While the room was spacious, the hotel could use some upkeep. The restaurant was not operating at the time of our stay. All in all, as a jumping off point for a Bromo tour it was fine. We arranged a driver through reception and he was fantastic. "
"Hello, This is not a small hotel as the pictures seem to show. This is basically a place renting rooms to people arriving in the evening for an early morning rise to see sunrise on Mt Bromo. I have never seen rooms and bathrooms so dirty, the bed sheet were dirty. There is no reception at all. We were obviously not expected on arrival. "Dieses Guesthouse kann man nicht empfehlen. Seruni kennt niemand vor Ort. Am Haus steht ASTUNGKARA - Uns wurde zunächst eine Besenkammer zugewiesen, obwohl Twin-Bed gebucht, nur ein Kingbett. Nach Beschwerde und bösen Blicken anderes Zimmer erhalten. Ohne Handtücher und Toilettenpapier. Das haben wir uns dann selbst organisiert. Niemand war vor Ort. Angeblich weil ein hinduistisches Fest sei. - Die Bettwäsche war zwar neuwertig aber schmutzig.

"The place is a little rundown. Constructions around the house were so noisy. Bathroom looks dirty or old. Many small broken things that owner can easily fix to make the place more welcoming were not done. We were very close to abandoning the place and take the loss but there were no available options at the time. This is basically your last resort. "

"We booked a room for 4 people on Expedia which had good reviews and a high rating, but when we arrived it was a 12 bedded dorm which we would not have booked. We emailed the property for clarification but we did not get a response.We feel we were not given what we asked for. On the website it stated that there was a 4 bedded room available but not a 3 bedded room or 2 bedded room. So we felt there were only 4 beds in a room. Could you explain how this has happened? It was noisy and very dirty and a terrible experience. We would like a full refund from you and ask you to review the rating you currently have on the hostel."

The cabins are NOT heated and it gets cold at night.
The hot water is 30 liters and it takes an hour to reload.
To see the sunrise you leave at 2:30am in an unheated jeep, there is jeep traffic hellbut you make it up by 5am you’re on the equator so it does not change much. Mt Bruno at dawn is cool and sunrise wasn’t bad either, very dark skies amazing stars and shooting stars.
Food was ok but breakfast didn’t have bacon or ham some strange sausage, eggs were good though, lots of Indonesian food.
Glad I did it to be honest, lots of walking though."
"The Grand Mercure was a wonderful hub to stay in Malang. It is not too far for Excursions to Mt. Bromo to pick you up and after an experience like that, you’ll want to stay somewhere that will pamper you back to balance. The cafe downstairs makes great options and while not very expansive, the room service dining had enough options for a variety of Indonesian and Western food to keep things fresh for a few days. The breakfast buffet had an extensive amount of options and you’re guaranteed to find something you like. Highly recommended. While we didn’t use the pool, it is family friendly with a fun for everyone slide and the building wrapping around it for coziness. "
"Rooms were very comfortable and clean, with a great view over the city of Malang. Staff was very friendly too and even though they had quite a few trainees on the roster when I stayed, they tried their best and always had a smile on their face, even though they were still learning and occasionally had to clarify a number of things with the senior staff. I had to set off very early in the morning but they were kind enough to prepare a packed breakfast (with delicious nasi goreng) for me. "
