"This house was booked last minute for an improptu women's holiday because it was available and allowed a pet. The view of the lake is beautiful, but you can't get in and out to swim here. Many things were in disrepair like doors, windows, and screens. Linens, towels, water, toilet paper was not ready for us and had to be asked for and was stained and worn. The microwave and stove top were not setup to work and our air conditioner went out on our second day. I would not stay here again but the...

"The property was very nice and pool was excellent. Each unit has a nice patio with table and outdoor seating overlooking the pool . They also have two Weber BBQs with a children play area. Very family friendly. The only complaints are about the signage on the hwy and the access road is more like a jeep trail. I would not recommend taking a car with a low suspension."

"Very quiet and private. I enjoyed waking to the birds calling throughout the jungle. The absolute mirror image of the large heron fishing at the waters edge and the groups of parrots flying over were a wonderful sight! Maya Cala was a special find for my family get away! "Absolutely lovely! It was an oasis in the middle of the jungle forest. The staff are friendly and responsive. We loved the pool and the central common area. Our apartment had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The showers were great. Please know the dirt road was quite bumpy but doable for a regular vehicle. "

"Really enjoyed our family stay at this small lakeside hotel. Our room was lovely rustic chic, clean and had very good aircon. The breakfast each morning was superb- a mix of buffet items and ordering a la carte. So far the best cocktails I’ve tasted on this 2 week trip. "Con sólo 16 habitaciones, el Amainah es un hotel prácticamente perfecto para una estadía en Bacalar. Instalaciones, restaurante, bar, alberca... todo es sumamente disfrutable. Dos detalles mínimos: Rentamos una habitación con alberca privada, el agua estaba fría, por lo que no la pudimos usar en la noche, como era nuestro plan. El otro es que los muros, todos en cemento pulido, rebotan mucho el sonido y, por la noche, los ruidos se magnifican; sería buena idea colocar algunos cuadros textiles, para aminorar ese efecto. "
