Best Western Hotel Hohenzollern

"Very nice hotel. I have used this hotel on many occasions and have always found it very good. However on this occasion I ended up with a room in the attic which was obviously an added floor at some point as the main lift only goes to floor 3. Then you either have to climb a spiral staircase which is not ideal carrying suitcases or alternatively walk along a corridor to another lift which will take you to the 4th floor. The main problem with the 4th floor is the very low sloping roof above the bed and relaxation chairs. It is very easy especially when getting out of bed or getting up off the chair to bang your head on the roof. Even a small person could easily do this. I think that this should be notified on the booking if you are going to be allocated one of these rooms. Also, being in the roof of the building when it is raining the rain is quite loud hitting the roof which could be a problem for a light sleeper. This is the only time I have ever been given one of these rooms in all my stays at this hotel. This is also the only reason why I have not given it a 5 star excellent rating this time as I normally do"

"Nice, clean hotel in a great location, with the railway station nearby and the city centre just a 3-minute walk away. Overall, I had a good experience and found the hotel convenient and comfortable. The only issue was with the sink in my room. The plug got stuck and the water wasn’t draining, so I asked reception to have it checked. Unfortunately, it wasn’t resolved before I checked out. Other than that, everything was good and I would be happy to stay again."

"Poor charging options - just one power socket at floor level on just one side of the bed and no USB/USB charging points at all. There were others at the desk on the other side of the room. This is not an IBIS standard as IBIS Budget in Hannover was very well-equipped in this respect. You can always tell when a room has been designed by a committee who never have to sleep there! No keycard entry system - instead you have to memorise your room number and a 6 digit entry code (or write them down somewhere which kind of goes against the idea of a "secret" code!) A small TV by today's standards and nothing much for non-German speakers unless all you want is "news" channels (which to be fair is pretty common in hotels, who seem to believe their customers can relax by watching the news - not!) A really stupid shower - when in use, the water runs down the glass door and this is not in any way sealed, ends up flooding the bedroom floor! Surprisingly, only one shower gel dispenser (almost empty) and that was at the sink not the shower! This was probably due to the fittings in the shower being broken but that is no excuse! This is not the standard I expect from IBIS."
