"We loved our stay at the Laughing Coyote. If you are looking for quiet and solitude, this is the place. The cabin was comfy and had everything we needed. We explored the MANY trails around the area and fell more in love with the western side of the San Juans. Helpful info to know: you are 38 miles (1 hour drive) from Dolores on dirt roads. The roads to/from Rico are not as maintained so the drive is over an hour. The distance didn't bother us, since the views are breathtaking either direction. We Jeeped to the top of Black Mesa and saw one of the most beautiful views of Dolores Mt. and Mt. Wilson I have ever seen. The Laughing Coyote is only a short distance beyond Groundhog Reservoir where we met some great locals who operate the litte store there. We hope to be back soon! Thanks again for the hospitality.
