I took this on Madeira Island, Portugal last May :). It was a dream come true to visit this enigmatic island. I was suppose to visit it back in March but had to unfortunately cancel. But, I had plans to travel in May so I decided to include Madeira! It was really well worth it. I took a few tours but on this particular day I walked solo. A few hour walk in the Serra de Água Valley. Breathtaking scenery was all-around. Mountains, valleys and amazing colors! And this was one of my favorite views! There was actually not many views of this mountain from the path I was walking. I could have very easily missed it! I am glad I didn't, though. And I came at the right time, too - sunset time :).

Madeira Island was the 2nd part of my trip. Finland being first, due to a music festival I was attending. And then a day in Helsinki. And I ended my trip in Switzerland. Was quite a contrast between Madeira & Switzerland ;). And both so beautiful in their own way. A journey I'll never forget!

"Ein sehr schönes Haus, sauber und gepflegt. Alles da was man braucht, Grill, gute Küchenausstattung, großer Kühlschrank. Wer sich selbst bekochen will, muss allerdings alles, auch Salz und Pfeffer, vor Ort besorgen. Von allen Zimmern, Küche und Wohnbereich ein toller Blick auf das Meer. Die Autobahn ist zwar in Sichtweite, stört aber nicht wirklich. Die Lage ist zentral, 10 min bis zum Supermarkt und 20 min. bis in die Innenstadt von Funchal. "Daniel and Luisa are amazing hosts. Very warm, open from the beginning, always there to help you. Great accomodation, well designed, very well equiped kitchen for everybody to use and on top of that an amazing breakfast every morning, a rare combo and excellent if you dont want to eat out all the time. The best thing of this place was the slowing down, the quietness, its literaly the last village in the valley, so it feels very local and not a lot of people passing by. Also lovely levada nova...

"Overall a good stay, property is in a quiet area. Not much to do in Santa Cruz which is nice. I did the half board option and honestly would skip it next time. The food was basic cafeteria food, par at best. "

"Loved the location, cleanliness and vibe of the hotel with fantastic pools and all staff were great. Only downside was limited parking and I was only able to get a space at the hotel on 1 of 5 days, all other days I had to search for on street parking around 500m away from the hotel. Not ideal but aware there isn’t much can be done about it due to the central location."

"A 5 star resort , great spa too. Indoor pools, hot tub and steam room were serien. Our massage therapist was knowledgeable and friendly as well. The main outdoor pool is massive and water warm. The breakfast buffet is outstanding . The staff were always polite and spoke various languages fluently. Our room was very large with a terrific shower. I loved their optional pillow selection as well. The cleaning staff folded our clothes too daily. A nice touch. There are plenty of great restaurants close to the hotel, all reasonably priced and served up good food options. Overall I’d recommend this facility. "
