"A little gem on the Mendocino coast! Ashley was so kind and friendly and worked hard to get our room ready a little earlier than expected. Room was great--amazing view, plenty of room, generous with towels and other supplies. Everything was clean and comfortable and the on-site cafe is delightful. A must-not-miss on the California coastline!"

"We stayed one night, it was better than anticipated. A nice quiet, clean place to lay our heads for the night. I appreciate the hard wood floors, much better than carpet imo. The bed was comfortable, the shower was warm. The shampoo etc. was lovely. Plenty of towels. Internet connection. Plugs in lamp by bedside. An added bonus was the fridge/microwave. Check in and out was easy breezy and the managers/owners(?) were very accommodating and kind."

Benbow Historic Inn

8/10 Good
"It’s an old hotel expect it to be that, but it was clean. I read the reviews so I was expecting it to be old so I was not disappointed. It is a Beautiful hotel with a nice European History. Our room smelled like old cigarettes and old people. My husband had to get the spider and his web off of the ceiling…It was dark even in the day time. We heard a door close very loudly early in the morning and at night. It was Very Loud! It’s a well preserved place but it’s over due for a complete remodel of the room 110. I only know it this room. It’s one the best rooms and only two of them. It just smelled so bad I had to use my deodorant as an air freshener. I got home and was charged for room a second time and it was less than what I had originally paid through Expedia. So what is the real price? Our were we gouged on-line? We were there for the Raggae Festival. We paid more booking it on-line and in advance. We were offered a buffet that was being offered due to the event but I think it was expensive for what they offered $65.00 for two for the basics, no smoked salmon, shrimp or mimosas. I am still trying to figure out the resort fees and what makes it a resort? Would I go again? It depends. They have an EV charger which had we known we would have driven our EV they don’t mention it online. We definitely appreciated the shuttle that picked us up and took us to the event although the hotel had no knowledge of it when we called and inquired about it."

10/10 Excellent
"I stayed at Mary’s Cottage for four nights as I was in town for my brother’s wedding. My experience was 100/10! I am SO happy I found this place! It was cozy and clean! I was obsessed with the vibe! The garden was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable. It was 90-100s when I stayed, but the window AC unit in the front bedroom was POWERFUL! There was also a Dyson fan that I had blowing from the bedroom with the AC into the front room which made everything feel so comfortable during the day when I was there. At night, the temps cooled and I barely ran the AC. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need. Tami, the host, was very responsive. She had check in instructions sent early the day of check in. There is a binder that told their story about the cottage, which I loved to read because you can tell the place is so loved. I felt that staying there and want to thank you all for sharing your beautiful cottage with us! I loved being in town cause all my family who were staying at the Benbow hotel came to town to eat, which I was able to walk to! I ate at 3 different breakfast restaurants! VERY small town but it has everything you need. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!! I hope if I visit the redwoods again from the Chicagoland area, I can stay here!!! THANK YOU!!!"
