Tbe Keyser House, established 1928, is the childhood home of the owner. Recently renovated and remodeled, the owner has maintained much of the original furnishings and country comfort, while adding a modern touch to the home. Come and enjoy the family history, in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home, large family room with a fireplace, recently added deck and remodeled front porch. We just added wifi as another amenity you can enjoy! The house is within walking distance to the historic Compton Rapids on the Shenandoah River. Contact Downriver Canoe Company for river access.

This property is close to the cave so u can save your time on that and probably this property is old but they have all kind of equipment for cooking and kitchen have nice space so whole family can enjoy a food at same time and nice 3 barrooms upstairs with window air conditioner so that helps a lot over all you can stay 3to 4 day very good and we had a great time in this property we all enjoyed a lot
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. This is a pretty quirky house, lots of rooms and closets. Takes a bit to find your way around which is part of the charm. This is not a 5 star hotel. It's a quaint, country house with all the idiosyncrasies of a 100+ year old home. But, it was clean, comfortable and a great location to stay. If you're looking for plush luxury this is not your place. If you want a fun, beautiful homey spot this will suit your needs.

Creepy house
We arrived late at night. It’s a bit hard to find, but the owner was very responsive and helpful. Since it was dark, we parked where we assumed was obvious parking, right in front of the back door so we could unload our stuff. After prying the door open because it was very stuck, the man in the house next door came by to talk to us. I’m sure he’s nice, but it was a little uncomfortable. He talked to us for about 15 minutes and most of the conversation was him telling us that we parked in the wrong place and he was worried we were gonna run over his cat.
The following day, we got back to the house as it was getting dark. The man stood in his doorway behind his screen door and just watched us the entire time we were getting our stuff out of the car, about 10 minutes.
Aside from the creepy man living next door, the house is old and a little musty, but not uncomfortable.

Loved this stay. The house is really interesting. The owner has included some pictures of their family including their mother who was the first owner. The home has gone through many add ons giving it a unique feel. My kids and I played hide and go seek for hours, so many good hiding spots. We spent time in shenandoha which was about 20 minutes away. Contacted the owner once to ask about the history of the property, she got back to me super quick and check-in was easy.

Peaceful Mountain Getaway
The Keyser house was just as pictures described and all the basic essentials were provided. We hiked Shenandoah River State Park just 8 min drive from house and went to Naked Mountain Winery just 30 minutes highly recommend both!
Please keep in mind there is No cell service Only internet.
Also the property is hidden back a ways and not marked which path to drive up took us a bit to find property!
Absolutely beautiful home with Mountain View’s and next to train which went by a few times a day!
Thank you Betsy we really enjoyed our visit!
Overall great experience. If you like the old houses this is the place to stay. Cozy atmosphere. Very peaceful. We enjoyed the old time feel the house gives.
Driveway could have been better marked. The neighbor was a bit creepy as they watched us from the time we pulled in until we went into the house.
Very comfortable and roomy. Charming old farmhouse with nicely updated bathrooms. Betsy was great to work with.

Girl's Trip
This was our 2nd annual girl's trip, and it was my turn to find a house. This charming farmhouse was clean, spacious, and warm. You can hear the train go by and whistle in the early mornings, too, which was pretty cool, although, I was the only one that heard it. LOL! I just wish the gas fireplace had been operational because we were looking forward to sitting by the fire at night. Betsy's husband was very nice, and did come by to attempt to start it up, but couldn't get it running. :-( There are no curtains in the living room on the very large window or on the French doors leading from the living room to the deck, and it would've been nice if there had been to make a bunch of city girls feel a little more secure (we watch too many creepy movies ;-) ). Also, the only cell service that works out there is Sprint. It was difficult to get a hold of Betsy when we first got there to find out how to unlock the house, but we finally got a hold of her. Thank goodness one of us had Sprint! Betsy had sent me an email with the information on how to unlock the house in the late morning the day of check-in, but we had already left to head up to the area, so I didn't see it. This was my first time ever renting a house off of one of these sites, so I didn't know how things worked. I just assumed we'd call, and she would be right there with a key at check-in time. Anyways, this is just some info so everybody knows what to expect! All in all, we all had a great time, and the area is beautiful and peaceful! :-)
Very quaint and relaxing home. Betsy was very hospitable and we loved this home. Close to Luray and White House Farm where we were attending a family function. Highly recommend !
Our stay at the house was great! Beautiful mountains and the river was very close by. Only a short drive to Shannandoah River State Park for some hiking trails or Front Royal for a restaurant. The only small inconvenience was the lack of cell service at the house, though there is reception shortly up the road. Betsy was excellent to work with! Very friendly and helpful. Loved the old farm house!
This was my 2nd stay at this property and still singing praises. The house has plenty of room and very comfortable. Owner went above and beyond to ensure our stay was pleasant. Had issues with the electric to the fridge on 4th of July and owner had an electrician there within an hour of being notified! Couldn’t ask for anything better! Hope to come back again next year!!
House was very nice and clean but was very hard to keep cool due to it being a two story house. There were four AC units in the house but that still made it hard to keep the entire house cool. There was absolutely no signal at the house for cell phone reception which made it very difficult to communicate with other people we were traveling with and there was no WiFi at the home to help supplement the cell service. The property owner was very nice and responded quickly to my emails when I had a question about something.
I love old houses and this one doesn’t disappoint. Plenty of room to pull the dinning room table out and play games for hours with the family while relaxing in the country quiet. Enjoyed sitting on the big back porch listening to the crickets and watching the fireflies! Owner went out of her way to make sure we had everything we would need and have already booked another reservation!

Visit Years Past!
We really enjoyed staying in this early 1900's home with décor and furnishings right out of the time period. The old-fashioned kitchen had all the modern appliances needed to cook meals and the two large bathrooms were new. The owner reached out to us before our stay to be sure we had everything we would need, and all her instructions and directions to the house were helpful and easy to follow. Rileyville is also a return to the past - a beautiful old farming town, very close to Luray, in a lovely location along the Shenandoah River.
