Note: We are an older beachbox home built in 1970. We have weathered many storms and tides that come with island life. Therefore the home does have a few quirks. The floors have some uneven spots and we like to note there is only 1 large bay window in the guest house. Lastly, we do live next door, so you will see our kids toys, some construction materials as my husband does handyman maintenance, our chickens, dogs, cat and some things we are working on outside our property while here. We do not pretend to be a luxury rental, we are a quirky little island family with a well lived in home. We will not encroach on the rentals space at anytime but like guests to know that we do live next door and share the pool. We try to be as open and transparent as possible to ensure guests get the best experience they are searching for and book the perfect rental home for their needs.
We also co-host other properties in Rodanthe/Waves and Salvo. If this space doesn't suite your needs, we also have many other homes varying in amenities and scale of luxury to suite a wide variety of travelers ❤️ Check em' out on my Airbnb profile page! Scroll down until you see the list of homes in the area I host 🥰

The Neighborhood:
Whether you're here to surf, kiteboard, fish, kayak, beach walk, sightsee or even go horseback riding....we have you covered! Everything is either within walking distance, available on site, or a short drive away.
Rodanthe is an amazing part of the island and centrally located on the Outer Banks! Being that it's the smallest section and directly next to the wildlife refuge, the beaches are a lot less crowded than the beaches north in Nags Head or south in Avon. There are a few restaurants (only 1 late night bar) and other conveniences nearby but outside of that, the island is quiet and relaxing.
If you are here for kiteboarding, Hatteras Island Sail Shop (HISS) is down the road, Barton and his son Reider are hands down the people to see if you're looking for lessons or anything surf/kite, they will give you a great value and a more personal experience.
Watermans/REAL is about 2 miles away. They have live music nightly and a restaurant in the summer along with a great sunset view. There are a few other local restaurants within walking/biking distance and all locally run. Hatteras Lighthouse is a 30 minute drive away and the Bodie Lighthouse is 20 minutes away. You can ride horses on the beach in Buxton only 30 minutes away or you can get a surf lesson by your host, Jeremy, with given notice before your stay.
Getting Around:
There is a bike path nearby that runs the length of the tri-village (about 8 miles)...the taxi service is Island Hopper and there are a few Uber drivers around.
Other Things to Note:
Like Nicholas Sparks?? The Serendipity house from the book/movie "Nights in Rodanthe" is directly across the street! You can lounge on the beach and feel swept away by the books romantic scenery.
Interaction with Guests:
Interaction may vary as we like to travel in the winter but during the summer you may find us hanging by the pool or out at the beach with our kids, Mirlo and Mira Lee, and dogs Delilah and Rooster. We are available at all times during your stay if you need anything at all but you will also have full privacy in your cottage.
