Never Considered.
From Ohio to Georgia I often hear suggestions for cabins or stays in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I never considered staying somewhere in Kentucky. This location superseded my expectations. This is a great place to host my children and I while we were able to explore Red River Gorge. This house was so pleasant. My kids and I loved it. I absolutely loved the Jacuzzi. I will totally be recommending cabins and Kentucky. I was pleasantly surprised and completely happy with my stay and I can definitely say I’ll be back for another visit.

Peaceful and private home
Carrie’s Cottage provided a spacious bed, 4 outdoor seating areas and best of all, a completely private hot tub. We loved being surrounded by nature and saw a few critters. The cottage was stocked with amenities and its location is right in the heart of Red River Gorge. It only took us 10-15 minutes to every attraction we visited!

It would be nice if the owner or the listing agents could fix the "Get Directions" button on the website so it will take you to the correct address. The cottage is lovely and very peaceful. It is very well equipped and a very pleasant place to stay. We could happily have stayed there for longer and will definitely stay there again if we are back in this area. Definitely recommend

Great location!!
Carry’s cottage was perfect for the few days my wife and I were there. There were several fine restaurants nearby and of course the state park was a short drive away. We made use of the fire pit and the back deck on the perfect weather evenings we enjoyed. We are leaving forward to a return visit later this year.

Convenient and cool place to stay on a hot weekend
We stayed at the cabin over a weekend in late July. The temperatures were 90+ during the day, so we were very happy to find the AC was working very well once we arrived! I followed the link to the coordinates in Google Maps, and really should have just read the directions in the owner's email, which were clearer. You have the place all to yourself. I was worried a bit about the unsecured wifi, but there is nobody with view of the cabin, so it's pretty safe. Everything was extremely clean and the cabin was well stocked. We did find the fire alarms went off when I opened up the stove (we were just baking frozen fries), but other than that, the kitchen was great for making all our meals. There is no cell service (at least if you have AT&T) but (a) that's not necessarily a bad thing for a weekend off and (b) the wifi was very good--we streamed music the whole time and still were able to use the internet for looking up recipes, etc. I was able to make a streaming call to check in on my mom without any lag or issues. It is a little bit of a drive to the trailheads (~25 min to Auxier Ridge, for example), but we didn't mind because it was so nice to stay in a house with everything we needed and which allowed us to cook several meals. It was also nice to be able to do a load of laundry after sliding a bunch of rocks and scrambling on our various hikes. Communication with the owner was also quick and very effective. Would definitely recommend.

Another perfect VRBO!
Carrie's Cottage is a wonderful, well-appointed, home in the Red River Gorge area. 10 minutes from all the great stuff, it sits in a lovely glade, well off the beaten path where deer and wild turkeys are the only neighbors around! The house is a modern, brick home with all of the necessary amenities - even multiple USB chargers throughout. Super clean and cute with comfy beds, a nice kitchen and a fully functioning hot tub. 5 out of 5 stars! The only difficulty we had was finding the place! putting the address into google maps will have you scratching your head as the house itself lies down a short, gravel drive off KY 715 and there's no mailbox at the road. Using the VRBO location from the app will have you driving into the woods the wrong direction - (at one point the VRBO map told us we were there as we sat at the intersection of two gravel trails, next to an old cemetary in the woods. Felt like a scene from "The Hills Have Eyes"- JK!!) BUT, the management company was a phone call away and they guided us back onto the right track and stayed on the phone with us until we pulled up to the front door. My personal directions to get you there easiest? Once you get onto KY 715, start looking for the street sign that says, "Wagon Maker rd.", Near an old grey barn that lies below the road on the opposite side of KY 715. it's NOT an official street name so don't bother looking for it on your digital device. Worth the slight trouble to find! Highly recomend!!

NOTHING to write home about
Rotten garbage filled both outdoor cans our entire stay. Reported and they just said sorry. No one ever came to get it filled with maggots when we left and stinking up the entire property. Furniture was busted down old junk, so bad you could feel the entire framework sitting in it, AWFULLy uncomfortable. Main bathroom doorknob refused to shut while other one was falling off upon arrival. Microwave was busted upon arrival and never repaired. Rear deck boards were warping and pulled up in numerous places. Hot tub was fine the whole stay.

Great Getaway
This was a great place to get away and is a nice and private location. It had all we needed and the hot tub was a plus. The management was great to work with and very responsive when we had any questions or issues. The location is great for local hiking - though there was a forest fire at Natural Bridge State Park that closed the area to any recreational activities and access. We highly recommend this house and hope to stay again in the future.

From the first time the half bathroom toilet was flushed it did not work. We contacted the company and they said they would contact maintenance and or housekeeping and get back to us. After a half hour we reached back out to be told they were still waiting on a call back. They said they would let us know when they heard back from housekeeping or maintenance. We never heard a word back for our entire stay. The full bathroom has black mold growing above the shower surround, otherwise the place appeared to be clean. The kitchen is sparsely stocked with pots and pans. I would recommend bring your own pots and pans if you plan on doing much cooking.
