Cute little place! Perfect for my small family. Just a short walk to beach access which was great for my teens. Very safe community friendly neighbors. The only thing that lost a star was the master bed was hard on my back. I ended up sleeping in the loft because of it but that bed was very comfortable. Would stay again. Owners were very responsive and great to work with!
Stayed there 6 years ago - enjoyed it then and even more so now. Upgrades very impressive. Brandy was a great contact and was extremely pleasant and attentive.
We enjoyed our stay. The best part was being able to let our 2 furbabies out the door into the fenced backyard. The upstairs loft was definitely set up for children not adults (pretty tight fit). We didn't need for anything. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. The outdoor area is super nice. We enjoyed grilling and visiting on the patio furniture provided. Likely would have used the outdoor shower if the mornings had been a bit warmer. It was a little further away from my family than we wanted, they are on the West side of the lake by the Silver Dollar Bar. Glad we were able to find something for the holiday weekend though that allowed pets.
Our stay was bad from the start, the fridge didn’t work and the grill was unusable, the fire pit was full of garbage and the water was much farther from the cabin than stated, we left 3 days early and the morning we left the kichen had tons of ants everywhere, there is more I could say but I really want to forget the whole thing

Not much room
Queen bedroom had 2 foot walkway on ONE side only. Spouse had to crawl over the end of the bed. Toilet had just enough room for knees. Every door way only allowed one person to walk through before the next person could. Watch your head if you're over 5'9 in several spaces. Freezer is not cold enough. BUT, we enjoyed the smores and coffee that was on the house.
Water is waaaay too shallow to enjoy.
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin but we're very disappointed when we found out that the listing is actually false about being a "stone's throw away" from the beach. I wanted a place that we could walk to the beach and not have to load everything up and drive somewhere. The beach described in the listing is actually over a mile away and there is no parking allowed, this is not a distance my kid could walk. There is a beachy area at the end of the road but is limited to 15 people and even with 10 people there it would be very crowded and if you don't get there early you are out of luck. This also isn't a designated swimming area so there are people fishing and lots of fast boats...not a swimming spot for children. The listing also states that it is located 1.5 miles from the state park, this is incorrect as it is almost 6 miles to the South state park. I believe this cabin is more for those looking to do some fishing or a trip with just adults. The other issue I had was with the ladder going to the loft, the bottom 3 rungs have very sharp spikes so wear your shoes when climbing up for bed!! The positive things we liked were that the cabin is well stocked and the out door shower was a great feature! The outdoor kitchen/prep area was also nice to have.
All in all it was a nice vacation but I think we will look elsewhere in the future for our needs of a beach house.
We love this property! Nestled on a quiet street and only a short walk to the lake. Cozy yet vibrant decor. All of the amenities that one needs for a comfortable, peaceful rejuvenation. We look forward to it every year.

Best Clever Bear Cabin Experience!
We stayed at this location so we could be next door to family. We loved it! It was so much better than camping or RV'ing. Everything was fully functional and never ran out of hot water. Stocked kitchen appliances and utensils made for ease in cooking large meals. Thank you so much for sharing your beautifully decorated modern cabin!!
Just fantastic, beautiful area, close walking distance to private beach area community dock, shopping golf everything close we plan to get this unit again next year.
We stayed for a week and enjoyed the cabin and the outdoor kitchen the most. I fell in love with the outside shower and our weather was beautiful. We kayaked, mountain biked and took our dog on many walks. Our many thanks to the owners!

What a GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!!
I had such a great stay at this charming cabin, truly hated to have to end my vacation. I was so impressed by the Up North rustic themed decor mixed in with a lot of Santa Fe influence, it truly was fun walking through the door and discovering all the wonderful touches the Owner has so obviously put their heart into. I was also really impressed that the cabin was FULLY equipped with everything you need, no worries here if you happened to forget something. And then there is the outside - decks, dining table, lounging couch, chairs, firepit, outdoor shower, grills - all with beautiful flower beds and great lighting - just a PERFECT place to spend time! I can't wait for an opportunity to revisit this cabin and sincerely want to thank the Owner for creating such a great environment to relax in.

Gorgeous Lake!
Higgins Lake is gorgeous! This was our first visit and the clear blue water was breath taking. I was surprised by how difficult it was to allow your dog to swim in the lake. Almost everywhere we went with public access did not allow pets. We did find a small location at the South State Park that was pet friendly. Difficult to leave a lab behind when she wants to swim!
Our morning fires outside were awesome and there were no mosquitos or black flies! Gorgeous forest views and weather in July!
The cabin was very well decorated with great beds and super comfy linens. The cabin is small so more than a family of four would be a bit crowded.
There were some repairs needed that caused some stress on our stay. The yard is completely fenced in now and the main gate catches on the ground. The gate came off the connecting board as the nails stripped out of the wood on our first day. So, we were unable to close our dog in the yard. The front door lock is very tricky and sometimes took a dozen or more tries to lock. The new washer reported an error code and over flowed. Luckily we were in the house and caught it quickly before damage could be done. I reported each thing to property owner and he said he would address it on his next visit a few weeks after our visit.
The air conditioner cooled the living room well. You may want to bring another fan for the bedrooms. Lots of towels and kitchen supplies so no worries needing any of these things!
I was surprised that the guest instructions said kayaks could be used but when I had inquired about them I was asked not to use them. There is a review that guests used the kayaks so be sure you know the kayak policy before renting if you are looking for kayaks with your rental. The access to the water is not on your road. It is about a quarter mile down the road. The beach suggested in the paperwork at the house does not allow parking so I suggest the Gerrish township beach or state park beach as the larger beach is at least a two mile walk from the house. You can swim at the water access closer to the house but there is only a very small shaded beach area there.
We appreciated the local restaurants and would suggest going to Matt’s to eat in Roscommon. Great service and food! If you are feeding hungry kids it is a great deal! Tubing on the AuSable River from Cambell’s Canoe was fun too. Be sure to get a paddle with your tube. The loom room has the cutest shirts and the best fudge!
We will definitely be back. Perfect location. Very clean.

Great Place to Escape
My husband and I, along with our two pups, spent a long weekend at the cabin. We were able to rest and relax, as well as visit family members that live further north. The area was quiet, and the gas stove kept things nice and cozy. The owner got in touch with us to make sure that everything was okay, and answer any questions that we had. Nice getaway.

I don't want to give my review if it is published for all to see without a review as I feel that would be unfair to owners. I don't think they knew about some of the upkeep issues. We enjoyed the cabin but there were some issues that need to be addressed.

Very quiet and peaceful location.
Cabin is newly renovated and it shows - very "cabin - like" decor. Everything you need is included - appliances, dishes, pots and pans, etc. Quaint living area with a gas fireplace - although only 500 square feet it was just the right size for two people and our two big dogs! Spent a lot of time outside walking in the snow and going down to the lake that was just a short distance away. The cabin also provides an outdoor fire pit and kitchen along with a nice patio set. Did not hesitate to recommend to others.

Cute cabin on a nice lake
Very cute cabin, decorated beautifully; just big enough for us (2 adults, 2 teens). Nice neighborhood, with other cabins & houses, easy walk to the crystal clear lake for sunsets & star watching. We enjoyed the smart TV during downtimes. Bring your own bedding, towels! (I missed this and thankfully we had brought blankets we used) The A/C could really pump out the cold air, really cooling down the relatively small living area; bring a fan or two to help spread to bedrooms as well. Queen bed was super comfortable. Inside stall shower was clean and always had enough hot water. Floors in cabin were very clean. We used the kayaks which were great & super fun - thank you for sharing them!! Could not see how to use outside shower - didn't seem to have a water source. Negatives: some cobwebs lingered; kitchen windows difficult to open & close; previous residue in oven created significant smoke in the cabin so we had to shut it off, it could use better cleaning. No window treatment on 2nd bedroom, not sure why.
All in all, this was a very nice property and the lake was delightful. Not crowded or super busy, surprising for such a nice lake.
