The Oxenstierna family built the palace in the 1630s. It became a royal palace in 1762, when the state gave Rosersberg to Gustav III’s younger brother Karl XIII. King Karl XIV Johan and Queen Desideria spent long, relaxing summers at Rosersberg.

The rooms remain almost untouched from the 1795-1825 period. Here you can find some of Europe’s best preserved Empire interiors. The palace also has a café with a outdoor terrace.

The endless park in the breathtaking landscape of Mälaren adds to the charm of Rosersberg.

"Such a nice place to stay that was SO far from Stockholm traffic/stress and literally minutes away from Arlanda. Enjoyed the scenery and the wildlife out here. Wish we had had extra days to enjoy sauna more!"

"Two factors made our stay at this house so memorable: 1) The house sits on the beautiful island of Stegesund (no cars, only a small dirt road) that overlooks gorgeous water just outside of the town of Vaxholm. The July sun bathes the house in warm light all day long. You get the benefit of feeling away from the city while only being a 5 minute ferry/boat ride away from Vaxholm. "Es war unser erstes Ferienhaus in Schweden. Das Haus entsprach der Anzeige. Die Lage war toll, so dass wir jeden Morgen in den See baden gehen konnten. Auch die Wanderung um die Halbinsel Smidö haben wir sehr genossen. Als einmal der Strom weg war, hat sich der Vermieter sehr intensiv darum gekümmert das Problem zu lösen. Auch der Whirlpool mit direktem Blick auf dem See war fantastisch. Würden wir bestimmt wieder buchen."
