"Very friendly front desk. Checked me in as soon as a room was ready and was willing to also let me leave my bags next to desk. Rooms as described. Great shower. Great gym and pool attached and included. Steam and sauna. Pool kept warm. Lots of parking. Attached to the hospital but easy to get to and quiet grounds. Would stay again."

"My wife and I had a decent stay at the Royal Marine, though it was a bit of a mixed bag. The building looks magnificent, and although a little tired, has fantastic potential with some TLC. Our room was spotless, and we enjoyed paying extra for the sea view; watching the ferry terminal activity was actually quite relaxing. However, the hotel is feeling a little run-down and in need of some modernising. We also found the breakfast disappointing, which let the experience down. Whilst we enjoyed our visit to Dunoon, I doubt we'll be rushing back anytime soon."

"The hostel is in a wonderful position and it's a grand old building. We really enjoyed staying here. We had a private room and it was very large. The shared toilets and showers were all very clean. Our only disappointment was the food. We chose to have dinner when we arrived. You pre order and then go to the dining room at a pre arranged time. Well the fish and chips were just pulled out of a warming draw and had obviously been there for ages. Even though we were five minutes early for our alloted time. The fish was practically solid and the chips were nearer in colour to black than golden. So very poor. After walking 16 miles of the West Highland Way we were in no mood to argue. The curry was acceptable but no more. If you choose to stay here cook your own food is our advice. It's a pity because everything else was so nice. The breakfast is very basic but ok, and is very reasonable. No cooking involved so too difficult for anyone to mess up ! "

"For a 5 star hotel breakfast was not on point. It was a hot plate option. Dog friendly hotel but that does not mean dogs should be on seats. This was like a 5 star butlins. This hotel lives on a name. "
