"I was hoping for a few days of quiet in nature, and that is exactly what I got. I remembered what stars look like, fell asleep to the sound of a river, and read to my heart's content, warmed by a real fire. The hosts were incredibly thoughtful and responsive. The cottage isn't too far from wine chateaux (about an hour) and a couple of ancient dolmens, not to mention the beautiful Vézelay Abbey (about 40 minutes), if you want to venture out."

"Nous avons séjourné 2 jours et tout c’est très bien passé . Je n’avais pas bien intégré que le logement était en fait le premier étage de la maison du propriétaire. Mais cette partie est indépendante et bien aménagée. La propriétaire est très attentive, discrète et nous avons pu profiter de la totalité du jardin pendant ce séjour ensoleillé"

"Warm cosy and comfortable property with 'character' and in a good location for visiting Vézelay and area. Renovated and modernised inside to a good standard, with pleasant outdoor seating areas. Bring your own teapot if you need one! A useful bread van comes 3 times a week with baguettes. Nearest village shops (in St Père) are about a 10 minute drive. Neither our 'school' French nor the owners' English was good so the booking process via the web site emails wasn't easy. The whole booking process...

"The photos don’t do the small house justice. The owners are both lovely and go out their way to help you make your stay, the most enjoyable it can be. The views are fabulous and theres no mention of the long and short walks, that start 50m from the property, travelling through the Forrest and finishing at a pub/restaurant 1km from the accommodation."

"We enjoyed our holiday. The calm, the silence, the beautiful view and the cows as neighbors. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and everything was neat and clean. The cottage is decorated with taste and detail. The surroundings are beautiful, we made many beautiful trips. We only found it a bit cold in the evenings with only a wood stove (September). Furthermore, the house is highly recommended. A place to go back."

"Difficile de trouver un lieu pour une coupure complète plus isolé que celui-ci... La campagne, le grand air, l'isolement... Les routes sont cependant mauvaises et sinueuses, mais... pour des vacances, on ne va pas s'en formaliser plus que cela. Excellent accueil du gérant du gîte. On recommande..."

"If anything the listing undersells the view from the house, it is spectacular and right in front of you. Walking around the old city is a rare pleasure, every corner you turn presents a comically gorgeous view; my friends and I felt like we were on a honeymoon. Our favorite meal in town was at nearby (everything is nearby) Le Saint Vernier and we got great inexpensive wine recommendations from l'Epicerie de Semur."

"This nice chalet is rather isolated. You really must love nature and forget a bit culture, although it's possible. But before reaching such places you must drive difficult small roads."

"Large property perfect for large groups. Easy to cater with plenty of equipment Large pool and wonderful gardens. Security and privacy were an issue with interior doors not closing properly and keys and locks not working. The host did send a locksmith to fix some of the problems. Beds and bedding a little tired . With some better maintenance on this property it could be perfect."

"We had an extremely relaxing four nights at the cabin and highly recommend Lake Settons. The cabin was very close to the lake,it was peaceful and had everything we needed. Check in and check out was very easy. We would definitely stay again."

"The house is located rural, next to a unpaved road en a small stream. It is not luxury but wel equipped and comfortable. It offer a lot value for money. Due to the trees it is relatively cool on hot summer days. In Lormes , which has a nice atmosphere, there are supermarket, several good shops for food and some cafe’s. The surrounding is suited for some shorter day trips and for walking. For cooling down on hot days there is a small lake at a 15 minutes walk from the house"
