LOGIS HOTEL LE RABELAIS

10/10 Excellent

"Good hotel in the middle of town but needs a few bits of maintenance (e.g. leaking shower doors) and a few more members of staff. The restaurant was good with reasonbably priced meals although the chef needs to tone down the use of olive oil on the fish dish as it was swimming in it, and also learn the difference between saignant and bien cuit as my saignant steak was almost trop cuit! The main issue was the breakfast as a party of 40 Dutch tourists decended on the restaurant before checking out at 0900. When the few other guests arrived there were no clean tables and no food left. Understandable but what was incredible was that the young wonan in charge of breakfast was on heer own and overwhelmed. To her credit, once I'd alerted the lone receptionist to this she came and pitched in, as did the guests, setting tables etc. but that was areal failur of management. Why 5* then? Because it has potential and was perfect for our overnight stay with secure parking and (eventually) a great breakfast. If i'd been there for a week I'd probably have dropped it a star or two."

"We just spent 7 wonderful nights at "La Tuilerie du Paligny", and it completely met our expectations. Located right on the edge of the historic château grounds in the quiet Vendée countryside, this 17th-century stone farmhouse is the definition of French rustic charm. Surrounded by the peaceful Vendée bocage, the tranquil gardens and beautiful rosebeds provided a gorgeous, private backdrop for our week-long getaway. The Gite felt spacious, spotlessly clean, and deeply comfortable. The owner gave us a wonderfully warm, personal welcome and shared fantastic local recommendations for culture and sights around the region. Perfectly positioned for a quiet retreat while remaining close enough for great day trips - we took the dogs to "Plage de l'Aubraie", which they thoroughly enjoyed. We then went to "Les Sables-d'Olonne" to enjoy some delicious food at one of the many restaurants on the harbour front. This was all a relatively short drive away. If you want a relaxing, beautiful escape in the Pays de la Loire, look no further."

"This is a budget hotel that punches above its weight. The staff are welcoming, the rooms basic but clean, the location is not at all beautiful, but in a great location for those travelling on A roads and the restaurant attached to it is better than your average chain, the chef is good at what he does and the beer is rather lovely."

"Everything was perfect during our stay at La Libaudiere. The property is peaceful and quiet, in a rural area. The owners are very helpful and friendly. We rented the 'cabane perchee' and it was a great experience, a comfortable place in a big tree. It was very relaxing to stay a few nights there, breakfast was good too. Thank you to the owners for creating a great place like this one."
