"Enjoyed our one night stay here. Booked one hour private onsen and thoroughly enjoyed the privacy and waterfall scene. Also did the public onsen and enjoyed it as well. Yukata clothing and towels are provided. Excellent service and a sense of luxury even though the hotel itself is dated. Good breakfast."

"The accommodation was better than expected. The internal balcony made the room more usable and it felt larger than we expected. It was lovely to sit on the balcony to unwind and look at the view. "The outdoor private onsen is amazing. Staff with limited English but willing to help. The booking system for the private onsen is based on first come first serve, no reservation ahead so you have to keep calling front desk to check for availability....that needs to be changed. Other than that, I'd recommend it to those who enjoy traditional Japanese Ryokan."

"The staff was incredibly kind, giving us detailed directions into Matsumoto and even going out of their way to drop us off at a more convenient train station! The property is tucked up in the mountains, and it was magical to gaze at the magnificent view while soaking in the rotemburo (outdoor bath). This is a special place, that makes you feel like part of their family. The food was exceptional and a true kaiseki experience!"

"Room was smaller than expected (about 10 tatami). Onsen was fine. Food was tasty, and changed the second day, which is nice. The ryokan building itself is quite pretty. It's easy enough to find, less than a 10 minute walk from the station. It is in the middle of a town, so it doesn't feel very rural, but I guess that's a tradeoff for the convenience of the location. And since it's in a town, it's quite easy to walk out to cafes, restaurants, convenience store, etc. Staff were all very friendly....

"The hospitality of the staff from the front desk, ushers, servers, restaurant staff were superb and outstanding. They were attentive, considerate and polite. The food served during dinner were fantastic. We had their dinner 2 nights in a row and my family agreed that this has to be one of the best meals we have had in Japan hotel so far in this trip. The high quality hospitality and food made us overlook the slightly older condition of the hotel. We will definitely recommend and visit here...
