Welcome to Hobbit’s Rest, a one-of-a-kind hillside escape inspired by the charm and whimsy of a storybook hobbit home. Tucked into the earth and surrounded by nature, this handcrafted retreat offers a magical experience unlike anything else — perfect for travelers seeking adventure, creativity, and a deeper connection to the outdoors.
That said, we do want to set proper expectations before booking. Hobbit’s Rest is best thought of as a rustic glamping-style experience rather than a perfectly polished luxury home. Because the structure is built directly into the hillside and immersed in nature, you may encounter occasional bugs, insects, uneven surfaces, moisture, or other quirks that come with an earth-integrated property. While we work hard to keep the space comfortable and welcoming, part of the charm here is its raw, natural feel and handcrafted character.
Inside, curved walls, wood-beamed ceilings, cozy nooks, and imaginative details create a warm and enchanting atmosphere that feels straight out of a fantasy novel. The décor embraces rustic comfort and adventure, offering a memorable stay that is more about the unique experience and setting than modern perfection.
Outside, the property is truly special. Multiple streams weave through the grounds alongside a peaceful waterfall, lush landscaping, and acres of surrounding nature to explore. Whether you are sipping coffee while listening to the sounds of flowing water or stargazing beneath the night sky, Hobbit’s Rest invites you to slow down and embrace the magic of the outdoors.
This is an ideal getaway for guests who appreciate unconventional stays, nature, creativity, and a bit of rugged charm. If you are seeking a pristine, ultra-modern hotel-style experience, this may not be the right fit. But if you have ever dreamed of spending a few nights in a real-life hobbit-inspired hideaway, Hobbit’s Rest offers an unforgettable adventure.
Please note that there are a couple of other homes located on the property. It is a beautiful lakeside home that may also be rented and accommodates up to 9 guests.
From time to time, caretakers may stay on the property while working on landscaping, maintenance, or general upkeep, but they will always respect your privacy and space.
Our pet-friendly policy means you can bring one furry companion along for the adventure with a $50 pet fee. Please note that failure to follow pet-related house rules may result in cancellation of the booking without refund.

Thank you for the fun stay. Lot of fun things to do in the area. The little place to stay was charming and quiet. The management company was very accommodating. Thank you!

The place was whimsical but lacking amenities. No shower heater only warmed the place by about one degree every three.hours or so. Bathroom door didnt stay closed.

Kitschy and Fun
The pictures do not lie, this is a hobbit home. Easy access to town but in quiet serene location. The property is fun to explore and fantastic if you are traveling with a pet. Clean and well stocked with amenities. We didn’t cook but there’s a small set up if you choose to. The local wine when we arrived was a thoughtful touch. We slept like a log, bed was comfortable. Bathtub was great after a day of hiking.
The check-in instructions didn’t give instructions on how to turn on the hot water. Had to call the management, which provided the instructions. The WFi didn’t work plus we didn’t have cell service. Had to go to town to be able to contact the management team. Also the check out instructions are in a digital document. Again no way to access them.

No WiFi and with the sod roof no cell service in unit too. Conversation with manager regarding issue totally ignored issue! TV needed “your streaming service” but unusable without WiFi.
Fun place to stay for sure! It's nice to have a little novelty once in a while for where you rest your head on a trip. Just some things to know though so you are prepared. In the bathroom, the sink is like a tiny airplane sized sink and there is no shower just a bathtub. If you are like close to 6' tall or more, ceiling head clearance might be an issue with some of the beams. The metal frame bed is about as comfortable as it looks and the top bunk has very minimal space. Only like 3-5 year olds would fit. The kitchen is well appointed with microwave and fridge though water pressure at the faucet is not great. Just things to keep in mind when you're thinking about if this place is right for you.

NOT a magical stay.
My family of 4 was so looking forward to staying in this Hobbit Hole and living out our LOTR fantasies. Sadly though, not even Bilbo would have stayed here. When arriving, the exterior of the hobbit hole was so beautiful and inviting, yet when we entered, that's when the heat of the Balrog hit us. We understand that it was a very hot day, but there was nothing to cool it down in there, not even a fan. We decided to open the one tiny window that could open to let air in and hoped that by evening it would have cooled off. Boy were we wrong. When we returned late that evening after dinner, it felt even hotter. The air outside felt twenty degrees cooler than in the home. While contemplating just leaving the front door open, we saw many spiders make their way in and thought better of it, for fear that Shelob might lay close behind. We were going to try to tough it out until my daughter tried to get in the top bunk of the bed. She could hardly fit, and she is hobbit sized! She had to shimmy in through the tiny space above the ladder, and then lay there with ceiling merely inches from her head. As I am a bit bigger than her and I was supposed to sleep up on the top bunk as well, I didn't even try for fear of getting trapped. After spending a sum total of about an hour in the home, we promptly grabbed our belongings and checked into a hotel. This home seems best suited for 2 people an a cold day!
