Great stay near Stonehenge!

Had a very nice stay at Fairlawn House! We chose it for proximity to Stonehenge, which was perfect- an easy 10 min drive. The staff was wonderfully accomodating and the room was very clean and had everything we needed for an overnight.

Excellent stay, superb friendly service

Fabulous overnight stay in this characterful, comfortable hotel. Service was superb - friendly, efficient, and they went the extra mile to accommodate our slightly non-standard requirements, providing a packed breakfast as we were checking out early and including gluten-free options for my wife. Just wish we were staying longer!

Super stay

Excellent room, lovely spacious bathroom, nice to have doors on to patio. Breakfast was 10/10 freshly cooked as we asked for, crispy bacon. Excellent service & such an attractive room.

Brilliant - will come again

Another great stay at this warm and friendly hotel. The location is excellent, the rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is superb. I just do not understand why people pay more to go to a large, more expensive, characterless chain hotel when this gem in the heart of Amesbury is so much better!!

Fairlawn House is in a great location near Stonehenge and Salisbury. The town is quiet but has a few nice restaurants and pubs in walking distance. The gentleman who registered us was very friendly.

The property and the staff were excellent. Always willing to please. The chef and girls were always smiling and happy to engage in conversation. Unfortunately we were in the loft room and could not get any hot water in the sink tap. The shower was fine.

Stayed in this hotel several times, it's since changed hands, the place is still the same, however they don't provide any cooked breakfast, this wasn't an issue for me as I generally only have continental. The room was adequate however the bedding wasn't the best, the TV remote didn't work and the shower holder was broken, I appreciate its a very old property, but the rooms are in need of renovation.

Superb location, excellent rooms, staff and meals.

Having had to arrange a visit to Amesbury at short notice, I was warmly welcomed to Fairlawn House, and was greatly impressed by the Annex room assigned to me, which was spacious, well equipped and very clean and presentable. The staff were always helpful, cheerful and attentive to my needs, given that, as an elderly guest, I have some health issues. They were always charming, proficient and professional in their dealings with me, including an unexpected extension of my stay at very short notice, with the alternative room that was assigned to me being equally impressive and presentable. I took full advantage of breakfast each morning, which I would wholeheartedly recommend, and which reinforces the highly favourable view of my stay, together with my full endorsement of Fairlawn House.

Great welcome, great value and great breakfast

A reminder that whilst the loyalty points from the big brands are useful they are now substitute for great value a warm welcome and a freshly cooked waitress served breakfast. So will remember that small and independent will probably be a better experience than an efficent and faceless global chain. No restaurant on site for evening meals but full details of all the local places to each were in welcome folder in room. Comments that rooms are noisy wasn't my experience Room 16, was superior standard, large being located between reception and entrance and was alongside road but I had a great undisturbed nights sleep

Good morning We are not happy at all with this visit, Firstly the room up on entry was cold and took a while to heat up We have stayed here on numerous occasions and always been greeted with a smile - the atmosphere of the building was very cold and unwelcoming We have always been offered a cooked breakfast and the host is usually very attentive at breakfast We went down to breakfast, no one was there to meet us after shouting hello a member of staff came out and said help yourself. At no point did she say a cooked breakfast was no available, she told us to help ourselves to a table to which we sat and sat and sat expecting someone to take our order. We finally realised no one was coming when the waitress went back up the stairs We asked about the breakfast when we went back upstairs and was told of yeah sorry it’s continental only and should have said in your email - no it didn’t as attached Also when we made the booking we chose the option to pay at the property however it was taken out prior to arrival. We travelled from Leicester and have many any enjoyable stays at your property and was very sad to see how unwelcoming and unprofessional it has become

I'll just start by saying that I've traveled the world and I've never encountered service this bad. DO NOT STAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. I arrived close to midnight at Grateley train station and quickly realized transportation was limited. My phone was about to die and I was having trouble connecting to any taxi companies, so I called the hotel. The employee that answered was extremely annoyed that I was calling so late and told me he was sleeping. I explained that I was a guest at the hotel and asked if he could call a taxi for me, as I was having trouble connecting calls. He just said, "Mate, it doesn't work like that." I was shocked. I was literally going to have to spend the night at the train station or walk 2.5 hours on pitch black rural roads with my luggage. I essentially pleaded with him to simply make a phone call for me to have a taxi pick me up. I certainly wasn't asking him to pay for it. After several minutes of arguing and pleading, he reluctantly agreed to call a taxi, which thankfully showed up. Think about this. Your hotel is annoyed that you call them for assistance because you are stranded, and upon learning you are stranded, they're perfectly OK with letting you sleep at a train station because they can't be bothered to make a phone call. This hotel should be shut down, as they seem to be confused about what it means to be in the business of hospitality. Again, and I cannot stress it enough, DO NOT STAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.

A very modern B&B in the town of Amesbury which is rich with Stonehenge history. Unfortunately, a pipe burst in the basement just before our arrival, closing the kitchen, so we were not able to experience the food services. Our welcome was warm and we enjoyed our brief stay.

The staff was excellent. Very kind and helpful. The shower did not work correctly. It would alternate between scalding hot and ice cold. Maybe I didn’t understand the controls…breakfast was very good. Bed comfortable.
