Hotel Villa Bahia is beautiful! It is an old mansion that's been renovated and turned into a hotel. We stayed in the "Cochin" room (all the rooms have names instead of numbers and come with old fashioned keys/locks that are most likely original). The room is basically a duplex suite. This Pousada is located in a nice well lit area that is steps away from restaurants, police station, bank and churches. Lots of other things like museums, more restaurants, cable cars etc are also walk away. The Pousada itself is small and cute with about less then 10 rooms, therefore, you get a more personalized service. This is a really nice property, I came alone, it would fit well with a small family of 4, great size for a couple. The property is very clean and a nice location. The owner stayed in contact, the area is nice and secure, I felt safe and in the property was quiet. I would definitely stay again.

We are two U.S. citizens with a second home across the bay from Salvador. We have been observing, from the outside, progress that has been made in the refurbishment of this Art Deco hotel, so conveniently located in the historical heart of the city. Though the hotel is not entirely finished, it is already open to the public. The apartment is very well located and has a beautiful view of the ocean from both floors. There is no staff on the property but the owner was very helpful. I would stay there again and I highly recommend it.

This is a really nice hotel near the center of town (although not near any tourist sites). The rooms are great, the staff is friendly and helpful. It's near the Metro.
