The hotel was very nice but rather large as it catered to business and convention travelers. The outdoor are by the pool was a lovely place to sit. The food, although good for hotel food, was ridiculously overpriced.

Perfect location. Within an easy walkable distance from Petco Park, Gaslamp area ( excellent for walking and people are friendly. ) great restaurants for pretty much all tastes. Walk down the pier. Walk past the great convention center. There are music halls across the bay. Clean. Relaxing and low key. The Hilton is the perfect starting point.
