  • The Porto Pino headland is home to a lush, naturally occurring Aleppo pine forest, found in Sardinia only in this area and on the island of Carloforte. Numerous other plant species can be found in the pine forest and the other green areas that characterize the region: from the spiny oak to the coccolone juniper, from the Mediterranean scrub to rosemary, and so on.

    Not far from Porto Pino Beach lie the more secluded and less crowded coves of Porto Pinetto, Spiaggia dei Francesi, and Porto de su Trigu.

    The Porto Pino area, which includes the complex system of ponds, is designated as a Site of Community Importance (SCI). The rich biodiversity that characterizes this area is evident in its colorful plant species and numerous birds, such as pink flamingos, herons, marsh harriers, and black-winged stilts.
