Os Ferreirinhos, a Home in Madeira

Os Ferreirinhos is the main house of the Kiwi House property, which also includes the house O Lagar do Avô and the studio O Miminho, each used independently.

The property is in a rural environment of traditional farming, with a wide view of the farmland and mountains. It has been in the family for three generations — a home and meeting place for grandparents, children and grandchildren, especially at Christmas.

The house Os Ferreirinhos was built in the 1930s and was more recently expanded and adapted for tourist accommodation, retaining several authentic elements of mid-twentieth-century rural houses — furniture, windows, doors, floors and ceilings.

The house has around 200 m² and comprises four bedrooms on the upper floor, each with a double bed (140 × 190 cm) and a private bathroom, plus a bedroom on the ground floor with a small double bed (130 × 180 cm), a bathroom, an office, a living room and a spacious kitchen. It also has a terrace with wide views of the fields, mountains and sea.

It is equipped with air conditioning in some areas, a washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator, ceramic hob, microwave and kitchen utensils, as well as bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi, TV with international channels and other amenities to ensure a pleasant and relaxing stay.



📍 NEIGHBOURHOOD

The property is located in a rural area surrounded by farmland, close to the centre of the village of São Jorge, in the northern part of the island of Madeira.

A few kilometres away, there are impressive cliffs, mountains and Laurissilva forest for nature lovers and hikers, as well as other attractions.

A recommended walking trail, 'Levada do Rei', begins about 1.5 km away. Within a radius of 1.5 km, you can find restaurants and cafés. There is a grocery store 950 m away.

The property has easy access to the main roads.

A car is recommended for this location.

There is free parking on the property or on the street.

As this is a rural area, there may be noise from dogs and other domestic animals on neighbouring properties.

Weekly maintenance cleaning, including a change of bed linen and towels.

We strongly recommend that guests purchase travel insurance covering cancellations or other unforeseen circumstances that may prevent their stay.

If you have special needs or allergies, please contact us before booking so we can confirm whether we are able to accommodate them.

Due to the island's location and climate, the presence of insects and small lizards is natural, and they may be attracted by food scraps. We kindly ask that you keep surfaces clean and food properly stored.

For anyone who is not comfortable with the presence of insects and lizards, we do not recommend staying in a rural area.

For those sensitive to mosquito bites, we recommend using repellent when getting around the island.

An online pre-check-in form will be sent to collect the identification details required by law.

In-person check-in is by prior appointment. We will wait up to 60 minutes after the scheduled time; beyond that, it may be necessary to arrange a new time.

So that we can resolve any issue promptly, we ask that you report any faults or cleaning shortcomings immediately. Reports made after check-out may no longer be verified or resolved.
