My family of five stayed in casac Ishi which was perfect as a base from which to explore the Santiago and costal attractions . The three bedroom house was very clean , decorated nicely and we found a fully stocked kitchen in which we prepared many of our meals . The beds were great and we had no trouble falling asleep accompanied by the sounds of the river rapids from the Maipo river nearby.
We chose this property because it WAS NOT in the hustle and bustle of the busy town of Santiago . We were away from the city noise and traffic , able to listen to the birds in the trees while we relaxed and drank a little wine while sitting on the patio. However , the location of the property, which has beautiful grounds and gardens to enjoy , is a wonderful "base " from which to explore . We , in our rental suv , took day trips to Santiago , Valparaiso, Vina Del Mar , visited wineries, rafted the Rio Maipo (fun ) , saw beautiful winery property, almond ,walnut and fruit orchards as we traveled the back roads south of Santiago . Restaurants are close by and the supermarket was only a beautiful seven km drive away
The grounds keeper and wife were super nice and even cooked two meals for us . Steak on the grill and tasty baked chicken cooked in the traditional mud oven . Maria will do laundry too if needed . We enjoyed the free wifi too which by sons communicated with their wives back in Texas every night .
Overall this property was exactly what we were looking for - on the outskirts of Santiago , quiet , yet close to major roads and attractions . Michelle , the owner , while not being present on the property, was super nice and helpful in answering questions and making suggestions . If we ever return to Chile we will certainly stay at Casa Ishi
