This is a really nice place. The building itself is architecturally wonderful.n As soon as you walk in there a calm vibe and the staff are really helpful and so nice. And that calmness permeates into their rooms. The room was clean, nice bed and the shower tub was a decent size. I highly recommend this place if you're in Otaru.

A lovely hotel, in a beautiful building, with great service. On arrival we had a quick check-in, having previously received a QR code through completing pre-check in online at the request of the hotel. We then got to choose from a wide range of bathroom amenities to take to our room. The room was fairly spacious, with high ceilings and the beds were very comfortable. A good shower and of course a Japanese toilet! There is a free wine tasting in the early evening, including some local wines, which is fabulous so I recommend arriving in time for it. The only thing I would say is that of the two staff working at the tasting, only one seemed knowledgeable about the wines. The other was lovely and friendly but could only describe the selection as “red” or “white”. However this could simply have been a language barrier. If you like whisky, the bar also has a great selection, including local Japanese options, which are reasonably priced. However the highlight has to be the “morning tea” breakfast, served in the style of English afternoon tea, with a variety of local, sweet and savoury items served on a tier of plates. Delicious!

It was great experience with Unwind. I like the design of the hotel. Room is clean and well designed whereby I found everything I need. The hotel also offers free wine tasting everyday so please don't miss it if staying with the hotel.

Nice breakfast high tea style. Staff were very helpful. Stayed in the loft room for a family of 5. The loft was half height which was fun for the kids. Overall the room space was a bit tight but sufficient. Washing machine and dryers were pay per use.

The hotel is situated in a very convenient location, just a few minutes walk from the canal and the famous shopping street. Though it’s small, it’s very cozy and clean. I definitely will stay here again if I go to Otaru in the future.

This was a lovely stay in Otaru. Pleasant staff and our room was unexpectedly ready early (rare in Hokkaido). The free wine in the lounge is a lovely perk. Rooms are small but functional with hot water showers. Could use a bit more storage in the bathroom, but we made it work. Staff are all friendly and the breakfasts were massive and delicious. Thanks for the great stay!

There's a lot to like about the Unwind Hotel. The location is excellent as is the overall decor and atmosphere of the hotel. The service was prompt and very friendly. Even though we don't speak Japanese there were no problems. The restaurant was fantastic. In particular the breakfast that came with our room was like nothing I've experienced before. A variety of small dishes that were delicious. The free wine happy hour in the bar was a nice bonus. The room was a bit small, but that was expected and not unusual for Japan. The shower was one of the best I've encountered in Japan.

Nice friendly staff.

My stay in unwind was very nice and amazed. Not only the room but the staff was really friendly and helpful. I forgot my stuffs in my previous hotel and Akita San from Unwind had provided me lots of help checking with previous hotels for the language barrier. I really appreciated it.
