"We were welcomed by the helpful couple at reception and showed to our rooms early. The rooms where nice and clean with a comfortable bed. We had a coffee maker in the room which was really nice. The rooms are small but comfortable. The reception gave us some good suggestions where to go for dinner. Everything was close by and within walking distance We had a nice breakfast at the hotel too with many delicious choices.. I can highly recommend this property"

"We had a great stay. Hotel was sparkling clean. Lovely pool and simple but very good breakfast with freshest vegetables and feta every day. Coffee machine worked well and the options for coffee were fantastic. Plenty of parking near hotel, and a nice village and great beach in walking distance were of course what we came for. I wish we stayed even longer. "

"We stayed in a standard room in the main building and it was so lovely! The breakfast was awesome and the walk down to the village was convenient. This hotel has a lovely restaurant attached with great food. Zaros Lake is just around the corner. My favorite part was the spring water running down the side of the road. A very lovely village to visit on your trip around Crete."

"We can’t comment on the breakfast as we decided not to stay for the following reasons: - air conditioning was not working properly (we asked for help but the lady was filling in and couldn’t help) - the bed’s mattress was far too hard (I have issues with my back so that was a non-starter, might not bother other people) - reception and the corridor to our room reeked of smoke - parking was advertised and when we were asked where we should park we were told we couldn’t on the drive next to the hotel but that all streets were free parking (no spaces that we could see that wouldn’t block other hotel entrances). Yes the price is low, however we managed to find a comfortable room nearby for only a few euros more. The only advantage we could see to this hotel was its central location but the walk from the other hotel was only five minutes more. We booked this hotel based on its excellent reviews but really don’t understand why they were so good. When we left there was no one on reception to explain why we decided to leave. There were named envelopes presumably for other guests so it looked like there wouldn’t be anyone coming back. We can’t recommend staying here. "

"We had the most amazing stay from start to finish. We got there after midnight due to flight times, but were offered a guide to get us there or clear directions with a code for a key box. When we got there, the property had outside lights to guide us in and a fridge with a home cooked meal in, snacks, wine, olive oil and fruit. :-). So welcoming. The next day when we woke up we realised how beautiful the villa was and the views are just stunning. There is a twisty mountain road to get up to the villa but it’s very quiet. You’ll see more goats than cars. Take your time and enjoy the scenery and all is well. The pool was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable, the showers wonderful and it was very well equipped. The villa is within half an hour of Rethymno which is delightful. We were also within an easy drive of Knossos, Chania, Heraklion and Lake Kournas. One day however, we just stayed home and enjoyed the relaxation of the villa. :-)As we had a super late flight home and as no one was due to arrive the day we left, our hosts kindly agreed that we could stay way beyond the check out time and enjoy our last day without rushing. We stayed until 4pm and we are so appreciative of the kindness. We even received a parting gift. I cannot recommend Harkia Villas enough. Simply stunning. X. "
