Secluded Cottage Getaway

Welcome to the Secluded Getaway cottage! Our home is conveniently located between the Kalamazoo River and Lake Michigan, making it the perfect spot for access to both beach and town. Enjoy the quiet neighborhood, close access to outdoor activities and the friendly deer which wander through the yard around dusk and dawn.

The space
This dog friendly, 3 bedroom, 2 full bath home is the perfect spot for families, couples or small groups. The cottage comfortably sleeps 10 adults, all in beds. The main bedrooms feature queen sized beds. The bunk room has a regular queen sized bed as well as two queen sized murphy beds. Two bathrooms are located on the main level of the home, off the bedrooms.
The modern kitchen has almost anything you would need for cooking- pots and pans, dishes, glasses, coffee mugs and other kitchen essentials. A highchair is also available for the little ones. Grab a cup of coffee with the convenience of a Keurig and a travel mug and stroll down to the beach for an early morning walk or to watch the sunset over the big lake.
Please enjoy the home, but please treat it with respect. This is our vacation home that we are happy to share with you and others.
Amenities for your enjoyment
Beach items are available for your use while staying at the cottage. You will find kayaks, beach cruisers and other inflatables as well as a beach bag and small picnic cooler. Please return these when you are finished using them.
Games are available for your use while staying as well. Board games are located in the closet off the hallway and lawn games are stored in the shed. Again, please return these when you are finished so that others can enjoy them in the future.
The downstairs area is a wonderful refuge for a rainy day or evening, complete with air hockey, foosball, ping pong and pool tables.
There is a gas grill on the back patio as well as patio furniture. Feel free to use the grill but ensure that it is cleaned prior to leaving.
Other items to note
Pet fees: A $75 pet fee for one dog, $100 for two, will be added to the reservation after booking. We love furbabies but no one likes to see remnants left in the yard. Please kindly pick up after your pooch.
Cleaning fees: A $175 cleaning fee will be added to the reservation after booking.
Please take any garbage accumulated during your stay out to the trash bin located at the top of the driveway.
Please leave all used towels in the bathrooms and dirty linens on unmade beds.
Please load any used dishes into the dishwasher and start the cleaning cycle prior to leaving the cottage. If you used the gas grill, please ensure that any food residue is burned off and cleaned with the wire brush.
Please turn off all lights, close any open windows and lock the digital lock on the front door prior to leaving.

Guest access
You will be given a code for the front door on the day you arrive. The code will be active for the duration of your stay at the cottage.

Other things to note
No smoking inside the home. Should you choose to smoke outside, please pick up any cigarette butts.

The house is a short drive to anywhere you want to go while there. It had everything we needed. Very quite neighborhood. Our dogs loved the yard. I appreciated having a clean pet friendly house! We will be back.

Escape from the City

This is the second time we've stayed here and it's a gem. The house is well appointed with a beautiful deck and fenced in yard including fire pit. Quiet neighborhood and just a mile from downtown Douglas/Saugatuck. We'll return again.

We stayed May 4th thru the 6th, both the property and home were beautiful. We woke up each morning to deer and turkey in the yard and arrived home at dusk to several deer in the yard. The neighborhood was quiet.

Amazing Dog-Friendly House

The fenced-in yard made this fantastic rental one of the best we’ve ever found! The quiet neighborhood was perfect for walking our dogs. The house had so much to offer (a fire pit and game room downstairs)! The location was perfect as we had a family wedding at The Ivy House less than 3 miles away. We will be back!

Taking the grandmas out

The location is one story and includes a basement. It is relatively easy to access for those with a walker. We enjoyed the amenities and except for a stove that had the handles come off which Clinton said later would be taken care of, we had a great time.

Douglas Getaway

Great house and great location! Not walkable into Douglas or Saugatuck but less than a 1 mile drive. The house itself is well appointed; kitchen, games in the basement (yes, air hockey) and the bedrooms were really nice. Our favorite was the fenced in backyard with a huge deck and fire pit! So nice to sit outside and enjoy the fall colors! We'll be repeat customers.

Clean & comfortable home base for Saugatuck area

Perfect spot for a family or group of friends who want to stay in a quiet neighborhood close to area attractions. It's a pleasant 15-min walk to Douglas Park beach and a short drive to Oval Beach and downtown Saugatuck. Other highlights for us were the ability to make coffee and cook meals in the kitchen, making smores around the outdoor firepit (remember to pick up some wood), and playing pool and ping-pong in the basement. Those activities were a big hit with the teens and a great alternative to screen time.

Roomy, well-equipped house a short walk from Douglas Beach Park

Four adults and two dogs stayed for three nights. The dogs enjoyed the fenced back yard. The humans enjoyed the roomy interior with all of the sitting spaces and well-equipped kitchen. We would have used the deck and outside outside seating if it had been a bit warmer. Many board games upstairs and table games downstairs (foosball, pool table, ping pong). Set in a quiet neighborhood with walkable streets. A short walk (about 0.7 miles) from public beach (Douglas Beach Park). Great views of Lake Michigan from Lakeshore Dr. - including sunsets. Conveniently located to Saugatuck Dunes State Park as well as the cities of Douglas and Saugatuck. Owner was very responsive to questions that came up during our stay and he kindly returned a raincoat I left behind. We will definitely stay here again if our travels bring us back to Douglas/Saugatuck.

Great property and location, but strained interactions with the owner

We loved this house in Saugatuck. The location was perfect and peaceful. Our teenage sons loved the games in the basement. It was very bright and clean. Unfortunately, at the end of the trip our host tried to claim that some stray drops of spilled drinks around the table equated to damage on our part. We straightened and emptied our trash afterwards. We were very respectful. So just be careful as you may be blamed for something that would otherwise be considered normal upkeep on the property.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

This house was perfect for our group of 6. It was just as it appeared in the pictures. Clean, with updated bathrooms, on a quiet street. The pictures of the back yard didn't do it justice - the fire pit, deck, and outdoor dining table are beautiful. The proximity to downtown Saugatuck was also a big plus. We also hugely appreciated how responsive the owners were to our questions - they responded helpfully within minutes when we had questions. We will definitely be back.

Perfect home for vacationing

You wont go wrong staying at this beautiful home. It is exactly as pictured. The living room and dining were spacious, kitchen well equiped, three large bedrooms, and two nice bathrooms. The basement is a wonderful addition to the home. The grandchildren loved playing ping ball, pool, foosball, and air hockey in the evenings. The backyard is a dream and perfect for our dog. An added feature to this area is the deer and turkeys in the yard. We loved watching them. We highly recommend!
