"Slightly odd self check in system, especially given I was thinking this would be a conventional bed-and-breakfast or guesthouse experience. We skipped the breakfast offered based on others' reviews. There are some nice options in Portree and other nearby coffee shops and bakeries. The room was spacious and functional. The location is convenient for anyone who just wants to get onto Skye without having to drive any further, especially if having driven from a long distance such as from Inverness....

"The Marmalade Hotel is in a nice location that’s just a short walk (about 1/2 mile) from the center of Portree and harbor. The property is a nice mix of an older renovated traditional structure (which houses the hotel lobby, guest lounge, and restaurant) and a new modern structure where the guest rooms are located. The property as a whole has a clean, contemporary feel and is well cared for. The rooms are clean, contemporary and modest with nice amenities. I would stay here again when I return...

"We rented electric bikes to ride over to the castle a few miles away. The whole process was simple. We even got to relax at the pool for a little while. The staff was so accommodating and wonderful. Beds were comfy and clean. Really can’t complain."

"I had an amazing stay at Hame Hotel on the Isle of Skye. All the staff were incredibly welcoming and well organized, making our stay very easy. "If your preference is for a modern purpose built hotel, then the Morar hotel might not be for you. It does however offer a spectacular building with feature packed rooms downstairs with grand staircases up to the bedrooms, very clean, modern bathroom in the bedroom we had, unbelievable views from many of the bedroom windows and great food. The staff (Nadia, Tuan, Akram and Trenton) were very friendly and helpful. The location, immediately opposite the station was ideal for us on our railway...

"Main issue with the property is it’s location, the state of the access road which is narrow and full of pot holes and some of the rooms. They gave us a room in the attic which was more like a closet turned into a room. The bed was small and not comfortable. We were jet lagged and woke up late so couldn’t try the breakfast, but we did try the bar which was good but overpriced."
