"Lots of mixed reviews online for this hotel - and all make sense now - there is a lot going for and against this place. Pros: 1. The staff were great, very attentive and always happy to help with any room needs we had - the team at The Dextro are one of its finest assets and we appreciated them. 2. Location is decent - just 10 minutes walk to Little Italy main strip (India Street ) which has many great restaurants and a cool vibe, too. The hotel is also within walking distance to the amazing Balboa Park (1.5 miles) and awesome USS Midway (1.3 miles) - two highly recommended spots to see for anyone looking to keep up their steps. 3. The room was clean and the beds were actually very comfortable! Cons: 1. The outdoor pool needs cleaning / cleaning more frequently - we used the pool once and it was full of leaves and dead bugs - I ended up getting the net off the wall to give it a mini clean myself (!)- needless to say, we didn't use it for long. 2. Decor - the hotel has had some uplift in parts but still has a tired look and feel about it. 3. Breakfast cost - we couldn't bring ourselves to pay $20 per person for breakfast - a family of 4 (2x adults + 2x kids (ages 13+11)) would be $80 for a basic breakfast - we wouldn't get value for money from that so brought food in or went out each day. I'd recommend the hotel considers more options on pricing for breakfast if it wants more guests to take up on it. All in all, this hotel was value for money - no frills but reasonable."

"Room was clean, staff were friendly. Just didn't have a working TV (no sound) but could'nt care much as i was barely in the room to use it. But overall a recommended stay!"

"The staff at breakfast and happy hour were great. This hotel seems a bit older, for some reason they only had accessible rooms when I checked in when I did not request this style room. With the accessible room water gets everywhere in the shower, house keeping didn’t come by when I didn’t have my privacy sign up. Overall a great location to walk to seaport, gaslamp, convention center and other wonderful places. Also, not far from airport. "

"Incredible location, top quality service, really feel welcomed! Most ameneties were closed and no entertainment or activities, but tonnes to do in the local area. Rooms are much smaller than anticipated and the TV's are likely haunted or dont work, but still very nice. Again when staying that central, its not much of a deal breaker. Food is delicious, but verrrry expensive. Shout out to the valet staff, its worth every penny!"

"Room was dirty and AC was broken. They gave us a new room after we spoke with them. Then we went to open the door to the new room and heard people talking as I grabbed the door handle, two men walked out. I complained to the manager and he started arguing with me. This place has really gone down the toilet. Will NOT be staying there again."
