Nice property with great location!

The view and location was great with a lovely garden, pool-area, tennis-court and table tennis. Breakfast or late evenings on the veranda was a great experience. It was nice to walk and run by the sea in both directions with easy access to old town in Trogir. Easiest with a car or water-taxi. If you like to cook your own dinners, you may be disappointed, but there’s is a nice barbecue in the garden and there is many good restaurants in the neighborhood- so don’t worry- you will enjoy the stay!

Fabulous stay

Lovely apartment, stunning views with beautiful gardens and pool. Host friendly and showed us round. Nice walk down to the pebble beach with reasonably priced bars & restaurants. A bit of a climb back uphill but worth it for the close proximity. We only stayed 4 nights, wished it was longer. Only negative is could have had a freezer compartment, missed having ice in our drinks. Would definitely return.

Beste Anlage in Trogir

Impeccable stay, not long enough!

Josip did a great job in all aspects, communication before I arrived, greeting me upon arrival with a tour of the beach area and property, etc... The apartment was immaculate. I'll stay here again for sure hopefully in the near future!

Fabulous stay-pictures don’t do it justice

The apartment itself (flat 4) is basic but clean. However the the enormous balcony with views over the olive trees, pool, sea and mountains really has the wow factor. There is a summer kitchen with a stone BBQ, kitchen facilities and outdoor seating area and a lovely tennis court. There is also an outdoor toilet/shower near the pool. The apartment is a short walk downhill to the beach with so many activities and restaurants within walking distance. The walk back up the hill can be a bit taxing in the heat. There is also a small tortoise enclosure which delighted my 2 year-old. Jossip and his parents can’t do enough to make your stay comfortable. They even changed the linen at least once during our week-long stay and jossip himself took us to the local clinic when we needed medical assistance. The washing machine is in a separate area and washing powder etc is provided though you need to pay to put on a wash. This place is a real treasure, a peaceful and truly beautiful retreat but with so many activities, sites and day trips easily accessible. We were really sad to leave but will definitely be back!

Sea views and quiet location

Property was nicely located outside of Trogir. Water taxis or short drive to Trogir. 30 minute drive to Split. Pros: quiet, large and nice views. Cons: may not be ideal if you don’t have a car. Small issue. but no condiments (not even salt, pepper or olive oil I house). Do be prepared to buy everything you might need as far as groceries go, including condiments. Do have access to a shared washer but you may need to wait a little to use it. Overall very nice stay

Great host. Great location. Great standards.

We stayed at Josips place for four nights and loved it. For real. Loved it. The grounds and the view is great. Josip was a star. Kind, helpful and service minded. Just a few hundred meters from the property there where restaurants and the beach walk. A taxi boat for 2 euro went straight in to Trogir from there. Comfortable and cosy. It's a premium place with a premium location. Primosten is just a 20 minute drive away. Don't miss Primosten. It's a gem. All in all, a beautiful vacation at a beautiful place.

I didn't want to go home

It's official, I can honestly say that Josip is the nicest man you could wish to meet. Absolutely charming, welcoming and attentive. We (that is my Wife, ex-Uni student Daughter and myself) stayed in Stone Cottage, a delightful self contained building set just down from the pool and with a great view from the Balcony. The whole complex is spotlessly tidy and very attractive paths, grass borders and Olive Trees, the photos really do not do it justice. The pool is a sanctuary when the heat increases and never busy, sometimes we had it to ourselves for hours at a time. The walk down to the promenade takes no more than 10 mins through the garden and follow the road to a small alleyway straight onto the beach (although coming up slightly longer and taxing on the calf muscles - but a great way to burn off the excess calories). The beach itself is not sand (no brushing of feet required), its made up of small white stones so the rubber shoes they sell at the many shops for about £5 are excellent. The sea temperature was 26c, so its like a bath, but even that feels chilly when you first enter when the outside air temperature is 33c. The sun loungers and shades were quite reasonable for day hire and plentiful. The promenade goes both directions from the alley, turn right along the paved promenade to Hotel Medena end where you can get the taxi boats (£2) to Trogir or turn left and you can walk to a the charming old Seget fishing village (20 mins) or continue all the way to Trogir (another 25 mins walk - although a little bit along the roadside towards the end). Trogir is absolutely lovely (a mini Dubrovnik), we spent most of our evenings going there and in my mind nicer than Split itself, with some fantastic Super Yachts moored up. You are so spoilt for choice in terms of food and I would say roughly 3/4 of the price you would pay in the UK. I can honestly say that we never had a single poor meal, everyone was delicious. I can absolutely recommend the restaurant at old Seget Donji Fishing village, follow the sea front passed a small marina, passed a stone pier and there is a quite unassuming restaurant (the outdoor part looks like its covered in old fishing nets - although beware of the Honey Grappa - its too nice). Nicest meal we had, so nice we went back for our last meal. The Supermarket is at Hotel Medena, again only 10 mins along the top road and has most things that you need for the week (including box wine) and a fresh fruit and veg stall outside. Enjoy!

Perfect holiday apartment

Just a beautiful place to stay - the facilities are great and the location fantastic. The view from the balcony over the pool, sea and on to Trogir was beautiful - you could never tire of it. The apartment was clean and comfortable with great air conditioning - much needed! An unexpected bonus was the apartment was thoroughly cleaned and towels replaced etc part way through the week long stay. You could just stay by the pool all the time (it was too hot for us to play tennis) but the walk to Medina beach (5 mins tops) brings you to the sea and all the entertainment there - crazy golf, pedalos, floating bouncy castle, restaurants. The walk back up is rather stiff! With the water bus only a short walk away to get into Trogir, the location is ideal. Great communication and a friendly host in Josip.

This is the place to stay

The suite is situated in a detached new building at the private end of large plot in a residential neighborhood. The plot includes the main house, pool, bbq area, tennis courts and gardens. All very nice (the pool has a great view towards Trogir). Heading North the neighborhood is situated up the hill about 5 to 7 minutes by car past the main entrance into the island of Trogir (probably the best nearby Google Map landmark) and about 25 minutes from Split. You probably will need a car. There are small grocery stores a few kilometers back towards Trogir and a big box grocery place past the Trogir turnoff which we would have gone to first had we found it first (we did most of our own cooking). The location is just up the hill about 3 minutes walk from the large beach/recreation zone of Medena. There are frequent water taxis back and forth to Trogir from the beach and you can get a daily excursion to Split from the beach also. There are lots of restaurants, souvenirs, excursions etc etc along this beach strip with Adriatic swimming of course. Hard to imagine a better location with things to do; beach, excursions, pool, eat, view, drink, Trogir, Split, turtles. And Jacob (and family) were very professional and considerate. My wife and I and my mum are from Canada and we stayed 7? (can't remember) days in August 2014.

Lovely holiday

We stayed 5 days att Villa Julio and it was lovely. It is a quiet area, the beach was close, 5 minutes walk to a lot of bars and restaurants. We took the taxiboat many evenings to Trogir. Trogir was a lovely village with an amazing feeling. We took a boattrip out to a cuple of islands. And the water was so clear and amazing. I can really recommend this apartment with this amazing view and the nice pool and garden. Josip is really helpful if you have any questions. I really want to go back again!

Wonderful vacation at villa Julio!

Our family (me and two daughters, 8 and 14) travelled to Croatia in June 2013 as a part of children dance team participating in the dance fest in Trogir. First we were going to stay in Medena hotel but our friend proposed to book the apartments at villa Julio not far from it. Though we made it short-term luckily there were still free apartments and I am happy about this choice. We have only best impressions about this time though it was a little bit hard to come back and forth to Medena to join the main group. But these are our personal circumstances not related to the holidays at villa. We travel a lot and usually book hotel rooms so it was our first and very positive experience with apartments. Everything was so cozy, clean, comfortable and in a family way. The apartment had two bedrooms, one living room with kitchen area and a spacious balcony. As our friend booked apartment next to us the wall on the balcony was removed and we got a huge terrace with a great sea view. We preferred to rest from cooking and to dine at the restaurants, there are many alongshore. Our favorites were Joke’s for pizza and fish, Segetski dvori for sea food, Pecena (right across the street from villa) for meat dishes. Sometimes we stayed at the villa and cooked breakfast or lunch. It was very convenient as the kitchen has all necessary dishes and fridge. The room is air conditioned but the weather was not quite hot to use it often. A big bonus for our kids as well for us was a swimming pool. Our children spent most of free time there. I prefer sea and it was perfect but pool was quite pleasing in the hot noon when we were back from the beach. The territory is nice, clean and quiet, with olive trees, barbeque and tennis court. Special thanks to the host Josip and his family who were very friendly and forward to assist with some issues like car renting, transfer from/to the airport etc. We brought also the delicious olive oil from his plantations. All in all the atmosphere was very positive and relaxing but not boring. Certainly it is a place I would recommend (and actually I did) to my friends and where I would like to come back.

Lovely apartment

We stayed at Villa Julio for 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. There are just 4 apartments, so the pool was never that busy, but friendly as you got to know the other 3 families. Our apartment had 2 bedrooms, which were fairly small, a large living area, a large shower/toilet room and a lovely spacious balcony, which had room for an outside table, plus room for drying clothes etc. The kitchen area was quite small, and there was no mircowave or toaster, which was a shame. The view from the balcony and swimming area was beautiful, looking out to sea. The walk down to the beach and the restaurants was a little steep, and took 7/8 minutes. We tried both the restaurants on the promenade, near the apartments, and they were both good. We did try to drive down there one evening when we were in a hurry, but it was a mistake, as it was very narrow, and uneven, and difficult to find anywhere to park - we would have walked it quicker. I'm pleased we had a car, as the "local" supermarket was quite a trek if you were carrying shopping. We used Lidl, which was about 10 minutes drive away, and much nicer. We used the water taxi to go to Trogir, which can be picked up from the beach. The small beach was typical of Croatian beaches, small pebbles, but clear water, and good for swimming. Overall a very nice apartment, in a very pretty setting, would happily visit again if revisiting Split.

2 weeks at Villa Julio - August 2010

Just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks staying at Villa Julio. Praise for Josip and his family who were very friendly and helpful. The apartment was perfect for our needs with a beautiful view of Trogir from a fantastic balcony. The pool and the surrounding area was spotless and it was like having our own private pool most days. We played tennis on the wonderful clay court kept perfectly by Julio. Location was great - 5 mins walk to supermarket at Hotel Medina, Short walk down the hill to restaurants - recommend Jokes and Zule. Take a torch for late at night for the walk back! Took trips to a couple of the islands and to Krka National Park. Dubrovnik was alot further by car than we had anticipated but well worth the drive. Weather was perfect (not too hot), food lovely, apartment perfect, views wonderful and the Croatian people v ery friendlly and helpful. (hardly an english person in sight. beaches are stony not sand) Thank you to Josip and his family - Enjoy!!! Family of four (kids 14 and 12) from London

Beautiful villa, excellent facilities and location

Myself and 4 friends have just returned from Josip's villa and i have to say, even though the photo's and description are great, they still don't quite seem to do it justice! The villa itself is kept immaculate and even though there were 5 of us in the apartment, it was still both spacious and comfortable. We were greeted by Josip who kindly showed us the facilities (tennis court and pool, which are both in prestine condition) and the local area; Within a few minutes walk you are on the seafront in Medena which has a strip of relaxing bars and a few restaurants. The villa is within walking distance of the taxi boat which runs between Medena and Trogir (every hour, less than £2 per journey). Trogir is an amazing town to visit and no matter the purpose of your visit there is something for everyone; Beautfiul scenary, a number of restaurants and a decent nightlife. All in all both the villa and the location are excellent and great value for money. Josip goes out of his way to ensure his guests are happy and i look forward to visiting again at some point in the future. Thanks Josip, Dan.

Wonderful apartment with stunning views

We spent a wonderful week at Villa Julio in June. (4 adults) The apartment was spotless, comfortable and had everything that we needed. It also had a large terrace with a great view overlooking the sea and Trogir. If you have binoculars take them as we spent many an hour looking at the fantastic yachts that anchored off Trogir. Outside there is a swimming pool, with seats and umbrellas, also lovely gardens with seats dotted around. A 10 minute walk down hill takes you to the promenade where there are numerous restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets and bars. Also the water taxi to Trojir which is a cheap and fun way to visit the beautiful town. Tip take a torch for the walk back in the evening as it is quiet steep and a bit uneven in places. The supermarket is a 10 minute walk away at the local hotel. It sold most things. The fruit stall sold beautiful local olive oil. Julio and Josip were excellent hosts and always on hand for advice and a chat, but they weren't intrusive in any way. My daughter arrived after us and as it was late in the evening Julio picked her up from the airport, took her to the apartment to change and then drove her down to a restaurant on the promenade where Josip had taken us a couple of hours earlier. This was tremendous service on their behalf. I would certainly recommend Villa Julio to anyone.

Pleasant Surprise

As we approached the villa by car along a suburban road we were worried that we might have chosen the wrong location. We need not have been concerned. Our apartment had a large terrace with a lovely view overlooking the sea and Trogir and its environs. The coastal path along which you can walk or cycle to Trogir is near along with a number of local restaurants and bars. Best of all there are regular taxi boats providing cheap, pleasing and easy access to the lovely old town of Trogir. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The kitchen was adequate for us (the owner should consider adding a microwave). Outside there is a swimming pool, plenty of seating/lounging areas, tennis court, exercise equipment and barbecue. The apartment was spotlessly clean and outside areas are very well tended. The owner and his staff are very friendly and helpful. We complained at the lack of internet access (unreliable wireless is apparently a common problem in the area). The owner went out of his way to obtain a gadget which allowed us to access via broadband. We have stayed in many apartments and hotels throughout Europe. This is the first we have found worthy of reviewing and the first we would go out of our way to return to.
