Idyllic quiet rural location designed for the modern traveller

Drive onto our property and take a deep breathe and relax. Its holiday time and you are here! Our property is quite new & well designed with double glazing & solar heated water &floors. There is a good sized bedroom with a very comfortable queen size bed, good linen @ towels. In the lounge area there is a comfortable/stylish queen size Ikea Sofa bed with linen stored in lift up base. So there is ample room for either children or another couple if required. The kitchen has everything you need for self -catering. I will supply free range eggs when available. Please help yourself to the herb & vege garden. There is a washing machine and an undercover clothesline plus portable drying racks in cottage. The indoor outdoor flow is ideal, and guests often use the outdoor space for a quiet wine/coffee, a meal or barbecue. Mahoetahi farm is located 5 min from Waitara, 10-15 minutes from New Plymouth, and 25 minutes from Mount Taranaki. The local sights I would highly recommend are Pukekura Park, Puke Ariki Museum, Len Lye Centre, Parititu Rock and Back Beach, Fitzroy BeachOakura Beach, actually all beaches are great. We are also lucky to have a river boundary great for a walk .. follow the race to the end & turn right into the paddock & down the hill....(there is a small dwelling to walk towards) available for picnics, sun soaking and swimming. Animals on the farm include our cat Pepper a blacknwhite female cat who has just returned to the farm, 20'ish steers, 15 hens, 1 very friendly old dog Ricky and Numerous 'potential racehorses' The neighbours have the miniature horses.

Please come and enjoy our hospitality. We are here if you need us, but you can be as private as you wish also. Cheers Gayle and Greg

We have a portacot/high chair available between the 2 cottages(please request) I will leave this for you to assemble and put away after use. Linen is supplied for portacot.

I had a busy work trip and this was such a fabulous wee oasis to return to at the end of the day. Lovely deck looking out over the farmland. Highly recommend.

An Absolutely Wonderful Stay!We had the most fantastic stay here! The property was even better than the photos, spotlessly clean, incredibly comfortable, and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for exploring New Plymouth. What truly made it special, though, was the host's hospitality and ability to connect with so easily. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will definitely be returning. Highly, highly recommend!

Modern apartment in the country

The interior was modern and well designed. The BBQ facilities worked very well. We stayed for seven nights, enjoyed the river swimming, local beaches and proximity to New Plymouth. We hope to return in future.

Amazing Farmstay

Long weekend away

First time at Sentry Hill, and we were very, very happy with the cottage, services and location! The hosts were warm and welcoming, and the cottage stay was great for the much needed relax and unwind. No hesitation to stay again, or to highly recommend to all!

Perfect place to unwind

Greg and Gayle were awesome host always ready to assist and help when ever needed. This was our first farm stay in New Zealand and we as a family thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage we stayed was clean had all the things we wanted.We would highly recommend this property for anyone who has kids and want to experience farm stay.

Special place to stay

We had a very comfortable stay at Sentry Hill, the perfect place to be. Everything we needed was there, the cottages were set up beautifully, lovely outlook over the fields and Gayle made us very welcome. Highly recommend this as a great place to stay.

This is our second stay and it was just as good. The dog and cats are simply a delight. The accomodation is immaculate - spotlessly clean and a comfortable bed. Thanks for letting us stay and will definitely be back.

Awesome cottage

Lovely property out in the country. Lots of animals around and loads of sun! This house is a real sun trap. Quite close to the main house although this wasn't an issue. Lovely hosts - we'd stay here again.

Wonderful stay

We spent 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The house is well proportioned and modern. The kitchen had everything we needed, the lounge was spacious with a flat screen TV and Netflix, and the bed super comfy. The deck overlooks rolling farmland and the setting was very peaceful, with a few chickens roaming around, Ricky the dog wanting his ball/stick/plastic chicken thrown and Mocha the cat keen for strokes and cuddles. We felt really at home and relaxed.

Enjoyable stay in the countryside

We had a lovely stay in this comfortable property, which is great value for money. The location is great being in the countryside, but just a short drive to New Plymouth. It had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. Our daughter slept on the pull out sofa bed in the lounge, which was also comfortable. We enjoyed interacting with friendly animals - 1 dog, 2 cats and a chicken. Gayle was very helpful with our questions.

Great, great place to stay

Brilliant little place to stay, so peaceful, quiet and just 10-15 minutes from New Plymouth city. Hosts brilliant, and the fresh milk and eggs are a nice treat. Clean, tidy and great for a weekend getaway. Thank you.

Lovely place to stay with family.

We enjoyed staying here on this farm. The apartment was really nice and comfortable Our kids enjoyed seeing the horses, chickens and the friendly dog Ricky who loves to play fetch all day long. Hope to come and stay again sometime.
