It is possible that this bridleway may once have been a packhorse route. Certainly the bridleway from this point to Pilsbury was a packhorse route as the footpath joining from the centre-right (note the 845181) carried a packhorse route from Sheen to Pilsbury bridge (now a ford).

It is possible that this bridleway may once have been a packhorse route. Certainly the lower section was, carrying a route from Pilsbury bridge (now a ford) to Sheen. The hill on the other side of the Upper Dove Valley (partly obscured by the trees) is Carder Low. The village of Hartington lies about 2½ kilometres to the south (along the valley to the right).

Bridleway in the Upper Dove Valley 845178: previous image - (image 8 of 10) - next image : 845193 This bridleway is part of a route from Brund in Staffordshire (ahead) to Pilsbury in Derbyshire (behind the viewpoint). It is possible that this bridleway may once have been a packhorse route. Certainly this, the lower section was, carrying a packhorse route from Pilsbury bridge (now a ford) to Sheen. The route to Sheen leaves this bridleway a short distance ahead (approximately where the track disappears from view). Just behind the viewpoint and to the right the bridleway comes close to the 845189.
