Peaceful, Tranquil Getaway Overlooking Puget Sound

The Dawnview Retreat is about 17 miles north of Olympia and 7 miles from Shelton, in the Arcadia Point area.

This home is perfect for a family weekend, girlfriend getaway, or a couples' vacation. It comfortably sleeps 6 adults in beds and will accommodate a child or two in the portable crib and/or on the sectional sofa. The large second-floor master bedroom suite has a king bed, sitting area, 40" TV, spacious walk-in closet, and an en suite master bath with jetted tub. On the main floor are two bedrooms, one with a lovely four-poster queen bed and the other bedroom with two twin beds..

GUEST SAFETY: We have initiated practices to protect the health and safety of our guests. First, our professional cleaning services utilizes PPE to protect themselves and our guests from the spread of any source of infection. Secondly, all high-contact surfaces, such as door knobs, light switches, faucets, countertops, etc. are cleaned and recleaned with a two-step process. Should you have any questions, you are welcome to contact the owner via email through VRBO.

Located in a lovely area on 3.5 acres of woodland, there are many places to explore when you're not unwinding in this beautiful, peaceful setting with a nice view of the Puget Sound. (Note, the home has a great water view, but it is NOT water front.) The Arcadia Point boat ramp/beach access area is less than a mile from the property.

The huge living room is designed for relaxing, putting your feet up and chatting with friends. The spacious TV loft not only also has a great view of the water, but it also has a pool table and a large sectional sofa for watching satellite TV, movies (DVD collection provided), or playing games. In 2020, we were able to upgrade to fiber optic WiFi, which provides "gig-speed" WiFi with mesh routers for full coverage throughout the house. The new heating/AC system ensures that you will be comfortable in any season.

The large kitchen, with its hardwood floor and stainless steel appliances, is set up nicely for cooking, with a refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, range, dishwasher, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, mixer, electric teapot, crock pot, and brand new cookware, as well as a new propane grill on the deck just outside the dining area. Speaking of which, the dining table seats 8, along with 4 additional seats on bar stools at the kitchen counter. There are plenty of dishes (two sets, each service for 12+ -- yes, the owners are pretty much foodies!), silverware, glasses, and serving pieces.

Near the kitchen, the laundry room has a large sink, washer, dryer, drying rack, and is stocked with laundry soap and fabric softener. A single-bay attached garage is available, along with plenty of parking space.

Peaceful is the best word to describe Dawnview. Its setting in a quiet rural neighborhood is the perfect place to get some rest and relaxation and to base your exploration of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. In five minutes, you can be beachcombing on the Puget Sound. In 10 minutes or so, you can be touring the Walter Dacon winery or Taylor Shellfish or golfing. In about half an hour you can be in the Olympic National Park or the Capitol State Forest (with loads of hiking and riding trails) or exploring downtown Olympia. An hour to an hour and a half puts you in the Olympic rain forest, at the Pacific coast beaches, in downtown Seattle (depending on traffic!), at Mount Ranier, or overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca in Port Townsend.

There is an almost tangible feeling of serenity when you turn onto the long, beautiful private driveway to Dawnview (please slow down and enjoy the scenery and abide by the 10 mph posted speed limit). The canopy of maples and evergreen, flanked by a small fern-lined stream, feels like you are entering paradise. Not only is Dawnview a great home base for seeing the Puget Sound area, but it is also the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Absolutely perfect
This is the most well-equipped vacation rental I've ever stayed in. The kitchen is stocked with every appliance or utensil you could possibly need. Every time I thought "oh, I wonder if they have a--" I would discover that they did have whatever I was looking for! Bed and linens were super comfortable, plenty of towels, and lots of little touches like boxes of tissue in many rooms. The house is on a large enough lot with enough tree cover in the area that it felt very private even with a house across the street. Fun to play pool, and I took 3 baths in the large spa tub in the master bathroom. An extremely relaxing stay.

Dawnview Stay
The peaceful property at the end of a culdesac, is well maintained. It has one of the best rental kitchens we have ever experienced-super organized, well equipped with every shelf and drawer conveniently labeled. The beds were good, the rooms spacious and very clean with stocked linens and amenities. Blackberries located on the property were fabulous. Everything about the home said, "Welcome!"

Great stay and would absolutely be happy to return. The only comment is to be aware that the location of the house is quite distant from the nearest city and amenities. We knew this and stocked up accordingly and enjoyed its quiet location and neighborhood but worth noting. The place was extremely well supplied and we had a great stay.

Beautiful home, would give 6 stars!
Very impressed with this home, I would say it’s the best stay I’ve experienced in a VRBO of the 10+ homes I’ve visited. Beautiful and quiet area, great views, peaceful - just perfect! The wrap around porch was perfect for enjoying the tranquility of the forest and the views of the sound. The lower living room was setup perfectly to sit and enjoy company while taking in the views. We were visited by several deer who would pass through the yard from the nearby wooded areas. The listing mentions that the house is fully stocked. We couldn’t believe how many things were available, anything you could possibly need or think of. Extra paper products, toiletries, plenty of extra blankets and pillows, games, movies, coffee, and tons of cooking utensils. Overall, you really just get a feeling that the owner put a lot of love into making sure this house felt like home! Would definitely stay here again and will recommend to anyone I know traveling to the area!
