Great for hikers on the CT or CDT. Room was nice. And bathroom clean and reasonably sized. The building is old with lost of character which means uneven floors and sound carries. Good location to walk to everything Silverton has to offer. No one at the hotel to check in so you have to call a number provided. Worked quickly ao no issues just not the norm.

My first visit to Silverton and I'm so glad I chose to stay at The Avon! Loved the charm of this place, very fitting to the full experience of a mountain town at high elevation. The whole establishment was kept very clean, bathrooms are clean and stuffed with clean towels and toiletries, the kitchen/bar/living room area is very roomy. I stayed at one of the bunk rooms and I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable the bed was, with clean and soft bedding. Great job to Daniel, who runs this place, for preserving the mountains town charm.

Overall fine. Nothing special for the $ The manager/check in staff didn’t show up. At 3:30pm he finally answered calls and told us where the key was to let ourselves in. The facilities were good for cooking and refrigeration. Place is old, but on trend with Silverton. Room was OK, a TV would’ve been a good addition to this room setup. Bathroom light was so dim, had to use headlamp to light the room. Window in one room was fixed/didn’t open, the other was hard to open. Good size beds, room was tight. Clean, tidy.

This is a very unique hotel, a bit more like an air b&b. It is still being remodeled, so do not be fooled by the outside. It was a very comfortable stay, with amazing views of Silverton and the surrounding mountains. Will definitely stay here again.

Loved staying at your place!! It was a really fun experience!! The beds were comfortable, water pressure amazing for such an old place! Dan was always available by phone to answer any questions. You have accesss to the kitchen if you don’t want to eat out…You don’t want to miss the character and history of this hotel!

I loved the room we stayed in, there was historical information about the hotel posted in the shower. The views were fantastic. The decorations in the room were so cool to learn about and the bed was so LARGE AND COMFY!!!! One of my best nights of rest in a long time. Daniel was very kind and helpful!!

Room and hotel were clean. They provided toiletries. Check in and out was simple and communication during check in was great. We arrived close to midnight and check in stopped at midnight, but front desk texted instructions on how to get our key to the room. Property has shared bathrooms but they were not crowded as we arrived late and left early. Would recommend and would stay again.

No staff available other than by phone number. Bar is not operating, kitchen is available to guests, but it's a industrial kitchen and difficult to navigate would have been nice to have a microwave. Another guest said there was one in basement but didn't work. Hotel smelled of railroad ties. Bathroom/Rooms were clean room locks didn't lock. In a town isolated it was interesting but okay for a night.

This is a really funky, quaint historic hotel. Great location, you can walk all over Silverton and to the shops and restaurants. My son and I stayed on our way through to our home in Northern Colorado. We were in the two bedroom room. The beds were super comfortable and we slept really well. Our main complaint was that we couldn't see in the bathroom, there was one little light by the mirror. There was another small wall light by the shower, but it had no bulb in it - so the shower was quite dark while showering! This is a Colorado mountain town hotel. It is not luxurious by any means, but it is fun. It is in one of the most beautiful places, and does not even try to be pretentious, much like the town it sits in. I hope that never changes. There are plenty of other places to get that attitude in Colorado, just point to a map. I don't know if the Avon is open in the winter, but my son and I talked about returning then, it is my favorite time to be in Silverton. The Avon is good and definitely has the potential to be absolutely great. I will be returning!

Comfortable Historic Stay

Perfect Silverton stay! Historic unique hotel/hostel. It was clean and comfortable. They let our dog stay and they even allowed us to store our mountain bikes. We had a great time!

This place was pretty awesome, this is the first hostel (ish) place Ive stayed at in the U.S. and they nailed it w all the right vibes. We actually stayed in the private room (fire room?) The staff (patrick?) Was increadibly kind and knowledgeable. Our room was lovely, many unique furniture pieces. The common areas are wonderful, group seating, games, musical instruments. We will be back for a linger stay later this fall.

I enjoyed staying in the 3-bed hostel-style room. A few days ago I stayed in the 5-bed room and that felt a bit too cramped, but this time it was quite a nice experience.
