Worst nightmare

Omg! Worst nightmare! Cockroaches crawling everywhere. Even on my bed. Hair dryer not working. Toilet so dirty and it’s sharing for both male and female. Will never come back.

One of the cheapest backpacker hostel in Singapore. First of all, the name of the place is "Checkers Backpacker" on Expedia, but the actual name is "Checkers Hostel". There is another location on Google map with the former name and the same hostel pictures. I ended up spending 1 hour reaching the actual place from the station. Be careful!!!!! Secondly, facility is old, but bed area is maintained clean to a decent level at this price. I had a good sleep as well. Bathroom is not clean but acceptable for this price. Finally, for service, not so good. The lady with hijab is not pleasant to talk with, but acceptable at this price. Overall, considering the price, it's acceptable to stay for short term. I wouldn't prefer to stay for long here.

It was dirty, unorganized, and crowded. The curtain rod fell down twice, there were bugs in my neighbor's bunk, the bathrooms smelled, etc. I could go on...

1) Roof of my bed was plastered with cardboards 2) Air-condition put at 17 celcius was caused water to leak 3) Day staff was always on mobile phone, uninterested to attend to customers Thus, making sleep uncomfortable.

horrible and disgusting stay

When we arrived the room which we actually booked was overbooked so that my boyfriend and I stayed separately for the first night and than we needed to move again for the second night. But the worst thing was -bed bugs- I think that says everything! My whole body was full of bed bugs bites after the stay in this hostel!!! I would definitely not recommend this hostel! It was terrible and dirty!

Worse hostel ever..

Very very very terrible place. Strange smells and over-crowed rooms.Full of people from India and pakistan with full of their luggage bag inside the hostel. Shoes and slipper all over the place and full of bad smell. The bathroom is too small and again smelly. Sleeping in the overcrowded hostel is impossible due to the snoring of permanent guests and loud music from the bars and "massage" spa's in the neighborhood. The reception clerk useless. No daily cleaning and if you ask them to clean, they always said they dont clean and change the blanket daily.. Don't book here!!!!!! You will waste your money..

Do not book here! Don't be mislead by the price

Terrible place. Strange smells and overcrowed rooms. Even the lockers are not big enough for your backpack. The bathroom is chronically moist and again...smelly. Sleeping in the overcrowed dorms is impossible due to the snoring of permanent guests (probably workers??) and loud music from the bars and "massage" spa's in the neighborhood. The reception clerk has a very bad attitude towards his staff and guests that dare to ask for any service at all. O yeah...and skip the free breakfast...it's factory toast with jam. Don't book here!! You better spend a bit more for a far better experience somewhere else.

Tight rooms, good location and good wifi

Was ok if your looking for cheap accomidation in singapore! Rooms tight with a lack of respect fir people trying to sleep with phone calls at 03.00 but we could of just been unlucky with guest

the worst experience staying in a hostel

I have booked a 8ppl mixed dorm, when i checked in, the staff told me that they were over booked and don't know why expedia let the client book the hostel. I am not sure who need to take the responsibility in this case, but there were many many clients met the same thing. At the end, the boss said he added a bed for me in a 8ppl dorm, because i had dated my friend, so i agreed with this solution. However, I found that is a 10ppl dorm but not 8ppl, and there were 14ppl staying at the dorm that night!!!!! I can't accept i paid for a 8ppl dorm and there were 14ppl! Also, the boss let other clients slept at the lobby, I don't think this is a normal hostel allow. I won't stay at this hostel next time and I don't recommend to the others!!!!

Cheapest we found in sg

The cheapest we found in singapore and yet the most expensive rooms we paid in 3months backpacking. We had never stayed at a dorm before. We were the ONLY western people in our 3nights. In this dorm comes a lot of people from India, Sri Lanka etc.. and most of them are elder people so you can feel a bit lonely/outsider. But the staff are kind the Asian man at the desk are very sweet and nice. It's located in little India a bit far from the bay. And they have free breakfast. The toilets and showers were small in the men's room. And the wifi does not work well in the room. But it's the best we found at that price in the expensive city of Singapore. There is a place nearby called Albert centre. They have a lot of cheap food and it tastes good. And this hostel does NOT give any towels so you have to bring your own.

저는 친구랑 둘이서 5박6일 싱가폴여행을 추진했는데요! 4박은 호스텔에서 다인실을 이용하며 싸게 자고 마지막 하루를 비싼 호텔에서 자는 계획을 세웠었습니다! 저녘에 짐두고 밖에서 놀 생각으로 저렴한 호스텔을 찾아 예약했기 때문에 그리 기대하지않았었는데 생각보다 청결하고 잠자리도 편하고 직원분들도 친절하셔서 놀랐어요! 추천합니다!

Good functioning stay. Easy access to metro

Had a fine stay there. Bathroom needs some ventilation. Can't poop without suffering the humid (and then smelly humid) rank of the bathroom. Otherwise, a good place to launch an exploration of Singapore.
