"Hotel Scapolatiello is quite unique, created by a family in 1821 and currently run by the 5th generation of the same family. It is in a fantastic location in forested mountains above Salerno with majestic views. The rambling building has several terraces with lots of flowers and it is a soothing and pleasing experience to sip a cocktail provided by the friendly and obliging barman, Antonio, to relax, and just gaze at the natural beauty all around. We found the staff to be helpful and smiling and felt we were being well taken care of. A special mention also to the head waiter Abel, who went out of his way to ensure everything was to our liking. There is a nicely laid out and good sized swimming pool with ample deckchairs and towels and a small bar. The restaurant is slightly old-fashioned, with a relatively short but decent menu, in addition to which there were always specials such as sea bream, sea bass, lobster, spaghetti with utterly delicious tomatoes, and steak. The wine list is extensive and affordable. All in all, we loved being there and it was a lovely experience. On one night singers from the Conservatoire at Salerno gave an impromptu performance in the lounge area, which was magical. The only excursion arranged for us by the hotel was a trip along the beautiful Amalfi coast in a motor launch with another couple, with a one hour stop in Amalfi and a longer one for lunch in Positano."

"Lovely hotel, great spot for getting to/from naples airport - about 35euro in a taxi/20mins drive (much quicker than any central naples hotels). It was a perfect "last day" spot for me, after a week on the amalfi and wanting a hassel-free early morning transfer. This hotel has a beautiful swimming pool, fantastic restaurant (actually the best pasta I'd had all week!) and my room was really spacious and beautifully appointed (with a v. comfy bed!!). It's in the perfect spot for visiting pompeii and herculaneum... if I'd found it sooner, i would have stayed here longer. My only small criticism was with drinks service... the staff were working hard throughout, but the menus are on QR codes, but without a means to order. There was about an hour when i was keen for a cocktail by the pool, but no one came to take my order (the waiter was serving inside/ upstairs). Similarly at dinner, i was given the QR code for the wine list but no one came until my food order (some time later as i was translating the whole menu on google translate!). It wasnt a huge deal for me, but honestly the hotel would have made a fair amount more dollar from me if service / ordering was tightened up! That said, the staff were are delightful, clearly working hard throughout, and i had a lovely stay. I would 100% stay again."

"The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was very clean and well maintained, breakfast and evening meals were of a high standard. Very little around the hotel without a 25 minute walk to the local train station although they offer a shuttle service if required. Would definitely consider staying there again as it was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the busy areas yet close enough to get to any of the sights without too much trouble. Staff were able to arrange trips to all the major sights. Had a fantastic stay. Would definitely recommend. "

"The hotel was comfortable. The spa and pool area were great. We initially booked 1 night but stayed for 3. The restaurants were delicious, and breakfast was a nice buffet. It's a perfect place to relax and let the staff look after you."
